Yuzuru Hanyu Cheer Thread

Yuzu’s new SP is “Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso Op.28” by C. Saint-Saens.
...
There is an interview in the [2021 NHK Trophy] brochure, and Yuzu said that Shinya Kiyozuka (who also played HYK) played the piano specially for the new SP. Mystery solved!
Both Jeff and Shae-Lynn are listed as choreographers for the SP

Something someone said here made me take a look at Hanyu.

I watched his exhibitation number "The Swan" I was totally gobsmacked. He was exquisite....positively other-wordly.

As one of the announcers said "He just gave a master class in skating" Every movemet matched each nuance in the music. I just don't think I have ever seen anything lilke that.

This article was published last Wednesday (Nov. 17):
Hanyu pulled out of last week's NHK Trophy, the first of his two International Skating Union Grand Prix assignments of the season, after saying he injured an ankle ligament during a Nov. 9 practice session.
"It hurts when I move it certain ways," Hanyu said in a statement released by the federation. "But I'm at the point where it doesn't hurt just doing routine daily things."
"I'm not even at the starting line yet, but will steadily move forward."
On Wednesday, the federation said Hanyu would also miss the Rostelecom Cup later this month, and that his bid for a third straight gold medal in Beijing would not end were he to miss December's national championships.
"He will remain in consideration for the team," the federation's director of development, Yosuke Takeuchi said, adding that Hanyu made an impressive recovery from injury to win gold in 2018.
"There is the example from four years ago, and I believe that if he works rigorously to get back, he will return to competitive form."

When is he going to give it up? He has to push that old body to revolve 4 times over and over to compete in his old age so the injuries will mount! :p;):2faced:
It is His body. He will know when it is time to quit. He won the 2018 OGM while injured and off the ice for at least two weeks. Itwas a miracle that he skated so well.

Still now he is older. I am preparing myself to hear that he will not compete in Beijing or if he did, he may not do well - could be a Plushenko like situation (I hope not!). However, Japan has other skaters to tide them through in 2022 and even win a Team medal.

When he lands the 4A at Olys or breaks his ankle trying. Sorry, don't mean to be sarcastic or mean and I don't know the reality of how his body is at this moment other than the injury but at some point, go out with your GOAT honors and your head held high.

Various media report Yuzu will compete at Nationals this week: Kyodo, Chunichi, Mainichi. If that's the case, I wish Yuzu good luck and I hope he will have a great competition.🙏💪 It's been such a long time since we last saw him, I missed seeing his skating and cheering for him.

I hope he is fully healed and has a fabulous nationals!

Yuzuru's bio on Fuji TV's website was updated with his programs today (yesterday it was TBD)- it's Rondo Capriccioso for the SP (piano arrangement) and Heaven and Earth for the FS, same as it was in the NHK Trophy pamphlet from early November.

I hope he will actually skate these at his nationals, and without the 4A. Save that for the Olympics. I am so worried that he may injure himself!

Yuzuru has attempted 4A a couple of times during practice today and he's landed them. Here's a video report about it: https://twitter.com/aoyuzu205/status/1473984305089347586?s=20 The improvements he has made since April are big and these were much better attempts than before.👏

It seems he'll go for the 4A in the free skate. Doing it for the first time at the Olympics would be too risky in my opinion.

Good luck to him tomorrow in the short program! Finally we'll get to see Rondo Capriccioso.

That is exciting. Worth staying up all night, for YYuzuru. ( I hate autocorrect and I give up)

I am awed by Yuzuru's determination to do well. I don't know what motivates him but he digs deep into himself and delivers. His skating transcends sports, athletics, and he creates art. He creates magic. I think Nathan will win the OGM in Beijing but in my mind Yuzuru is GOAT.

I hope I have not jinxed him.

Congratulations to Yuzuru on winning his 6th Nationals title, this time by a big margin!👏👏👏

His free skate (if it doesn't get taken down): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdexhdNosHw
The 4A attempt was much better than anything we've seen from him so far.

Yuzuru not only sprained his ankle but then he had esophagitis which caused fever and he couldn't do anything for a whole month. Given these circumstances it is even more impressive how he skated here. He is the greatest indeed!

Thank you Sylvia for updating this thread.

Yuzuru uses the same entry before his 3A for his 4A (even though it was << but he did not fall so thank God) "3 turn (RBI) CW - 2 turn (RFO) CW - change edge" https://twitter.com/roselinewinte10/status/1475106703766999042?s=20

His 4A attempt was 75 cm in height, 3.10 m in length: https://twitter.com/yuuzuuwu/status/1475079090151440385?s=20
I guess he needs more ice coverage? Stay strong, Yuzuru!

He was quite exhausted after his free skate though: https://twitter.com/hanyuslegacy/status/1475084441928273929?s=20

Honestly after seeing this, Im not that sure Nathan will win. Against the odds (at least as I saw it), Yuzu has worked and willed himself into a higher degree of competitiveness. I think Nathan has a fight on his hands. I hope he enjoys that. Probably after seeing Yuzu's win here Nathan is going to work and will himself to new heights as well. It will be a meeting of gladiators.

I think Nathan will elevate his game and he will win because of his more Difficult quads but Yuzuru has made a competition of it. It will not be just a coronation for Nathan. Men's competition had become boring.

I hope Yuzuru can skate as well as this in the Olympics, so we can all enjoy the competition. My heart will be with Yuzuru. At age 27 and after multiple injuries he can still skate like this. He actually looked better than he did in the 2018 Olympics, even though he can no longer do the more difficult quads. I just hope the judges will give him the PCS he deserves.

Win or lose in Beijing, he truly is GOAT.

If Yuzu actually lands the 4A and skates the rest of his FS the way he did here, I think he might win. That would be legend. How many points is it worth in BV? OK, Wikipedia says 12.5. That seems ridiculously low for a jump no one can do yet!

I was shocked when I saw the BV for a quad axel is so low. If he gets negative GOE, itvwill be even lower. That makes it 'not worth the risk' but Yuzuru still wants to do it. I just hope he stays healthy.
