Among many important and familiar roles, spanning over 60 years; he portrayed Patty Duke's father on the show of the same name.
Most will be surprised at how many other parts you recognize, I believe.

He's one of the That Guy...Who Was In That Thing category of actors. They add so much to our enjoyment of TV and movies. His face is instantly recognisable but I never knew his name.
