[Figured I should post these here instead of in the Soft Rock Hits thread. . . .]

The circumstances are somewhat different now from what they were back then, but, to me, these songs are pretty much just as relevant today as they were when they were first released some 50-odd years ago.

A couple of songs by Marvin Gaye:
"What's Going On": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhC_iLBrSUY
"Mercy Mercy Me": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efiDnHS3fzk

The Youngbloods--"Get Together": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAB3fyCIHpc
The 5th Dimension--"Save the Country": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUc9Fbb11PI
The Rascals--"People Got to Be Free": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYYQx9K6Cb0

The 5th Dimension, again--"Medley" (The Declaration of Independence/A Change Has Got to Come/People Got to Be Free): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scwCaqrEkBU

The last post here was November 2018.

So, this is what I am listening to on this new laptop - https://www.accuradio.com/classic-rock/?name=Rock 'n Stereo&b0=Classic Rock&b1=Rock

There are plenty of music style choices on the site, but I landed on Rock 'N Stereo. And that's all I have been listening to.

Lots of variety and lots of songs I haven't heard since they were originally on the radio, not even on Classic Rock or Oldies stations. Some that never got any radio play at all. I just knew them from the albums. If I hear something I really like, I have to turn it up. The other day when I was writing an email, I mentioned these songs as I was hearing them - Bless the Beasts and the Children, Burn Down the Mission, In the Year 2525, No More Mr. Nice Guy, Day After Day. Yesterday I had to wait to make a phone call till Us and Them was over. All that on this one "station".

I think I am going to have to plug this laptop in the living room and listen while I read instead of the Classic Rock station on the t.v. Will that wear it out too fast?

Gordon Lightfoot singing "Farewell to Nova Scotia." He didn't write the song, but it is SO beautiful. Too bad he didn't record it on one of his albums. The version I"m listening to is from a BBC concert. 🥰 🇨🇦 🎸🎼

I've been listening to my collection of old records today when I came across this one. It was one of my mom's favorite songs because my dad's nickname was Bill or Billy. lol!

Don't Mess With Bill by the Marvelettes -1965
When I saw the name Bill, this is the first thing I thought of:

I still don't know how to make the location into the description?

Listening to What's Love Got To Do With It, and this Friday, Tina Turner and Kygo will be releasing What's Love Got To Do With It Remix

Tina Turner is coming out of retirement to feature on Kygo's remix of her iconic 1984 hit 'What's Love Got To Do With It'.

The 80-year-old music legend has been retired since her final 'Tina! 50th Anniversary Tour', which wrapped in 2009, only making occasional appearances at events and on recordings.

However, this Friday (17.07.20), the 'Proud Mary' singer will appear on a brand new cut of her Grammy-winning track - which won Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the music awards ceremony in 1985 - by the Norwegian DJ-and-producer.

Tina has always been my other favorite singer besides Stevie Nicks, and I can't wait to hear the remix. 💞💓

Good timing..................Heartbeat (It's a Lovebeat) - The DeFranco Family (on the bubblegum station on the computer). I also still have that 45.

p.s. - it's mostly not "bubblegum", just the songs that were popular when bubblegum was.

Madman Across the Water! on the internet. I can't even listen to that album because I don't have a record player anymore.
