What is the best glove length?

I think that what looks good depends on the program and the music that the skater is interpreting. I'm not a huge fan of the wrist-length gloves in the second photo, because they don't seem to be necessary to the outfit/program (other than to protect the skater's hands in a blade grab).

I think it completely depends on the overall outfit and how it balances out the look.

In your example photos, I liked Evgenia's wrist length gloves. Her dress already had three-quarter length sleeves so adding elbow length gloves would have looked ridiculous.

For the to the elbow and over the elbow example, both lengths worked b/c both dresses were sleeveless. They both balance out the look so it just becomes a matter of preference.

The only issue I have with gloves are the flesh colored ones that aren't nearly flesh colored enough. They stand out like a sore thumb and look terrible. :scream:

I love gloves, all lengths, when they are matched up correctly. I agree w/ the other posts about making sure they balance out the dress, etc. And, yes, the color is key. You don't want to go off the rails with some weird color, design or fabric experiment. Ruins the whole look.

I agree with this.

I have no issue with gloves, like I do with suspenders. When a man starts a program with his hands on his suspenders, or snaps his suspenders, I groan inwardly.

But maybe it's because I'm generally not fond of the types of programs suspenders tend to go with (jazzy, flirty), rather than the actual suspenders themselves.

:40beers:

I'm curious about your opinion of this use of suspenders. Better than starting the program with snapping said suspenders or even worse?

The thigh suspenders are an interesting take.

But at first I thought you referred to the panel of fabric underneath the shirt, which struck me as as odd for suspenders - too wide IMO.

THIGH SUSPENDERS

Back to gloves... Nepela Trophy men's SP featured several fashion crimes, some of them glove-related. Like Jan Kurnik (no, never heard of him before). Why black gloves with this outfit? Why?!

Since wrist length gloves usually seem to be for hand protection only, I think skin color would be the best way to go. I think colored gloves draw too much attention to the hands when they're wrist-length. More often than not, I find them distracting, at least, when the costume isn't long-sleeved.

The other two options seem to usually compliment the costume, and I'm fine with whatever length works for the program.
