Can we also petition Tara to NOT jinx Amber at Worlds? Right before that last jump, Tara said sometimes it comes down to the last jump before it falls apart. Which sadly I know isn't true. As the Vice President to @AngieNikodinovLove in the Amber Glenn Fan Club, I know these things. It used to fall apart before the last jump. Usually on the 3S in the front of the program or the 5th or 6th jump, but not the 7th. The solo flip as the 6th jump has been the most problematic this season.

Interesting women's event.

I think Amber rightfully won. Alysa had the performance of the night, and I love the program -- it's such a throwback in the best possible way. However, she really ran out of gas in the last minute. Besides the botched spin and very underrotated flip, she got so slow. It was a terrific performance for her and I look forward to her improving the endurance issue in Boston.

Everhardt is steady, steady, steady. She was a breath of fresh air after so many dismal performances.

Poor Bradie. I adore her and the programs, but it's almost like she wanted it too badly. I hope she can have a better skate at 4CC.

I felt terrible for how the judges dumped Thorngren in the short program -- calling every possible rotation issue while turning a blind eye to so many others. She looked miserable and defeated in the LP, but I still enjoyed Bezic's lovely choreography. I was happy both Weir and Wagner addressed how ridiculous her short program score was.

I have concerns with the standard -- honestly, Canadian women places 6 - 12 were stronger than their American counterparts. I also feel like I saw significantly more underrotated jumps than usual in this event, which is surprising.

OK this is a good time for me to ask my question. Daleman had an awesome triple toe triple told with massive GOE. Ben said yesterday Sarah triple toe Trip hotel took up the entire edge of the rink, isn’t it a strategy, perhaps with a triple toe, triple toe and massive GOE the same as a triple lutz triple toe with regular GOE
It’s not a winning strategy. An excellent 3t-3t might outscore a3z-3t<, but the top skaters get good GOE on their called clean 3z-3t or 3f-3t combinations. Take a look at Euros protocols. Top 4 did 3z-3t or 3f-3t. The highest-ranked skater who did 3t-3t is in 5th with a clean skate. She did beat one skater with a clean 3z-3t (Schild), which matches your example of the “regular”, not exceptional version of the combo. But too many skaters have exceptional versions to get you on the podium without some help.

But interview with Sarah Everhardt in Russian press (it was also done in Russian upon Sarah’s suggestion)

That was such a great, in-depth article. I didn't know Sarah was taking classes at American University or that she speaks Russian well. Such an interesting story.

I hope that she qualifies for an Irish passport through her grandparents, and that if she doesn't have one already, she gets one. (Not for skating.)

The article noted she is a senior in high school. I interpreted the comment about American to mean she will be starting in the fall.

Many high schools do have co-op programs where students take classes at universities at the same time, but reading the translation of how Sarah said it, it does sound like she’s talking about the fall because she’s talking about how she will combine college and skating and she doesn’t know yet. It is quite early for seniors to know where they’re going, though.

After Euros, the WS have shifted going into 4C's. This is what I'm seeing from the numbers:

The last SP group at the moment would be: Sakamoto (can't be caught), Levito (can't be caught), C. Kim, Hana Yoshida, and either Nina Pinzarrone or Mona Chiba, if Chiba wins 4C's. Chiba is the only one who can move into the final group, since Glenn has passed on 4C's.

The next group now looks like Pinzarrone or Chiba, Gubanova, Glenn, Repond, Haein Lee -- don't remember if she was caught up in the suspension drama -- Petrokina -- good for her! -- or if not Lee, then at the moment, Kurakova is next in line.

No one below Glenn can surpass her at 4C's for the penultimate group. 4th or higher at 4C's would have put her over Pinzarrone, even if Chiba won 4C's, for the last spot in the final group, but she may be better off in the penultimate group for the SP.

Liu would likely need 6th or higher at 4C's to move into the 4th-to-last group, while Everhardt would need 8th or higher. Neither could reach the 3rd-to-last group, even with a win.

Lee's suspension has been paused while she appeals it, so she will be competing at 4CCs and Worlds.

Lee only move intra-group over Repond: she has to drop 709 points, so the most she can earn is 47 incremental points for silver or 131 for gold.

You listed only 6 here- so Pinzarrone seems to be in for sure and Chiba either moves up with 4CC or Gubanova gets the spot.

You're right: I originally had Hendrickx in the last group, but she's out for the season, and I never moved Guanova up.. :duh: .

That does mean Pinzarrone is in the last group, since Chiba could only knock down Pinzarrone to 6th instead of 5th, while she could knock Gubanova down from 6th to the penultimate group.

That would also put Kurakova in the last spot for the penultimate group now, but Schizas only needs Top 10 at 4C's to push out Kurakova to the 3rd to last group.

I think Glenn is in a good spot, and, of course, so is Levito, if she's healthy. Both Liu and Everhardt would have expected to skate relatively early, given their points going into championship season.

Well, now... Isabeau just popped up on IG for the first time since she WD from Nats. Posting pics with her mom in Milano...

Huh. I've been expecting her to WD from Road to 26, but looks like she's there already for next week's competition.

She was confirmed the other day, along with Martynov, Green and Parsons, and McBeath/Parkman. I'm glad she was able to go early and with her mom. They have family there.

Anybody know if there is a stream for this event?
LOL. She was listed on the entry list and the USFS Int'l Assignments page - that is not confirmation she's actually competing there.
