I wonder if some skaters prefer to always do it the same way on a particular jump in order to have better muscle memory.I'd be happy if COP only allowed it as a feature for one jump in a program. It becomes trite repeated over and over again.

Some just have it as a habit from when they were younger. Once they develop real quads and glutes, they don’t need to swing their arms up, but they’re stuck with it.I wonder if some skaters prefer to always do it the same way on a particular jump in order to have better muscle memory.
Interesting, does it make it easier when learning the jumps? I always thought that arms up was more difficult but a way to earn more points. Some just have it as a habit from when they were younger. Kids often swing their arms up naturally to get height. When it was rewarded, coaches went with it. But it’s a barrier to quick rotation so I don’t think it helps at all.Interesting, does it make it easier when learning the jumps? That makes total sense, I didn't realize that it was no longer rewarded by judges.Kids often swing their arms up naturally to get height. When it was rewarded, coaches went with it. But it’s a barrier to quick rotation so I don’t think it helps at all.
She might have. What I remember more specifically was this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEtkTHjXx2g&t=2m32s, with hands next to her head.Do I remember correctly a skater, possibly Kerrigan, who could do a double and land with her hands on hips? Whoever it was I thought it was cool.

Maybe, I remember it a little differently.I believe you're thinking of Jill Trenary. The jump is at about the 2:45 mark in this video.

This is what I remember. Amazing to go from down low then up and into a jump. A coulple of the men could do this, I think. She might have. What I remember more specifically was this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEtkTHjXx2g&t=2m32s, with hands next to her head.
And then there was this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebYJwKs4kpk&t=1m40s
Nancy's shoot the duck to arms up double Lutz was always impressive. I remember her performances more clearly from the 1994 Olympic season so it was interesting to watch her 1992 program. I love Jill Trenary's hands by her hips double flip variation too. This is what I remember. Amazing to go from down low then up and into a jump. A coulple of the men could do this, I think.
I'm sure he will be. He's a World Champion and major contender for Olympic Gold. Plus, even though figure skating isn't popular in general in the U.S., it does tend to be a big draw during the Olympics.Interesting that they invited him to the NBC Universal Upfronts - I guess that signals he'll be a major part of their Olympics marketing.
He's got them tagged. But I did recognize Reba McEntire without looking at the tag!Ilia has been meeting interesting/famous people in NY and has posted some photos on his IG - Jimmy Fallon, Snoop Dogg, Daniel Radcliff, Victor Wembanyama (I think), etc.
Can you identify more?
