Yes, I apologize. I felt uncomfortable typing it, but commenting on Torgashev's withdrawal made me see who was part of the team.

It's just a horrible tragedy. I just hope everyone is surrounded by support. There's probably not even any mental space to even consider these decisions right now.

Which Selevko goes to Worlds, and whether Pulkinen goes to Worlds, will determine whether Torgashev would have had a decent or less decent chance of making it into the earlier half of the penultimate group with incremental points from 4C's, and it's not a push-over field. If Brown goes to Worlds, then Pulkinen's 4C's points won't matter, only his placement as a potential spoiler for this season, while replace some points that will drop off at the end of this season looking at next season. Pulkinen will get full, not incremental, points from 4C's.

Euros results will tell the story if it's a woulda/coulda situation for start order.

And now the Men's WS after Europeans.

The last two groups for the Worlds SP are set:

Last: Malinin, Siao Him Fa, Kagiyama, Sato, Britschgi, Shaidorov. (Assumes no Miura)

Penultimate: Egadze, Memola, Aymoz, Grassl, Cha, Vasiljevs. (Assumes ITA is Memola and Grassl, but if it turns out to be Rizzo, he'd just swap for another ITA Man in this group.) Cha could move up in the group with a silver or gold at 4C's, but he can't reach Shaidorov, even with a win.

The 3rd-to-last group sits now at Hagara, Jin, Litvintsev, Brown, Samoilov, Torgashev. (Assumes no Yamamoto, A. Selevko, Frangipani). Jin can't knock Vasiljevs out of the penultimate group, even with a win.

If Brown doesn't skate, but Pulkinen does, Pulkinen, who gets to keep all of his 4C's points, would need to finish the FS to pass Torgashev and knock AT out of the group -- they're only 21 points apart, and 24th gets 44 points -- and he could push the rest of the group down, but he also couldn't catch Vasiljevs.

4th-to-last group is now: Mikhail Selevko, Nordeback, Chu, Shmuratko, Starostin, Appleby. (Assumes no Tomono or Pitot)

5th to last group is now: Zandron, Tsuboi, Sihyeong Lee, Sadovsky/Rakic, Yanhao Li, Lev Vinokur. (Assumes no Yoshioka, Shimada, Levandi, H. Kim, Gorodonitsky, Nakada, Sanchez, Seo, Economides and no Pulkinen unless swapped for Brown)

However, Tsuboi, Lee, Sadovsky/Rakic -- if Chiu isn't chosen/can't skate -- and Li would could knock Nordeback down and Shmuratko, Starosin, and Appleby into the 5th to last group with a top 9 or 10 finish, depending on the skater, and all of that is possible, although some is more likely. 6th or above for Li and Rakic, 7th or above for Sadovsky, 5th or above for Lee, and 8th or above for Tsuboi would push M. Selevko down in the group, but not out.

Torgashev could be pushed to the 4th to last group were Tsuboi and/or Sadovsky* to place 4th or above, and/or Lee or Raloc to win silver or gold. That's if Pulkinen, replacing Brown, hasn't already done that.

*Stranger things have happened.

There's a strict numeric formula that factors multiple competitions over the season for choosing the Italian team. From the point of view of the US Men and SP starting order, it doesn't matter which two of three are chosen: any two of them will be in the penultimate group.

I didn't even notice that: I just assumed Jin was on the 4C's list.

That would give Torgashev a cushion of one more spot.

Huh. I guess his meltdowns at GPF and now Euros wiped those medals from my mind.
He was incredible at SA, he nearly beat Malinin (and maybe should have). His score there would have won Euros by more than 15 points.

Torgashev could be pushed to the 4th to last group were Tsuboi and/or Sadovsky* to place 4th or above, and/or Lee or Raloc to win silver or gold. That's if Pulkinen, replacing Brown, hasn't already done that.

Pulkinen would not be pushing Torgashev out even if he moved higher up the list, since that would mean Brown not being there, so Torgashev would end up in the same position regardless.

So if Jin is really out for the season, Torgashev can be outscored by 1 more skater (assuming that either Brown or Pulkinen will be in front of him) before he's pushed into the 4th to last group.

Which is what I wrote two posts above yours.

Not trying to be snarky (really!) -- but why all the effort to figure out who might/might not be in which group at Worlds?
Because some fans are concerned how early Torgashev -- after he WD from 4CC -- might skate in the SP in Boston.

Just a friendly suggestion - perhaps the projected Men's SP starting order at Worlds discussion that isn't directly related to the U.S. men could be continued in this GSD thread? https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...ent-scores-ctes-and-multiple-entriese.111935/

There is an actual Pizza King franchise in Indiana, guys. Pizzaking.com. Some swear this is the BEST pizza in Indiana.

So, enlighten me - What is the connect between Pizza and Torgy?
He said in an interview once that he ate pizza for something like 50 straight days lol.
For those interested, I investigated this "important" topic further ;) and posted my findings yesterday in Andrew Torgashev's fan thread (post #78): https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/threads/andrew-torgashev-cheer-thread.111535/page-3#post-6735665

Maybe we can discuss potential fan gifts for him at Worlds there? :)
