Vivian Le is back on the ISP.

And Alysa Liu won the silver in Advanced Novices at the Asian Open.

I figured Vivian would be back after she scored better at GF. The jumps still aren't totally there,but she's improving. Hopefully that means a CS for her.

Alyssa was the one I expected to medal. The downgrades are unfortunate. But I remind myself she's only 11. She's still learning and growing. There's a lot of potential there.

Just saw Haley Beavers sitting with Team USA at Philly. Apparently she was off the ice for 6 months but is now back on and all the jumps are back.

Brandie was in 2nd.

Karen Chen had her knee wrapped in the warm up and we all knew it was not a good sign. She placed 3rd. She told my daughter she was withdrawing from the long ( I saw this posted elsewhere so it is now common knowledge).

Amber Glenn had a spectacular combination jump but popped the axel. I believe she is in 5th or 6th.

Starr looked good but needs alot of polishing.

Amber could very easily move up in the FS, but she will need to dig deep and do her best to avoid those pesky mental hiccups. Tessa Hong, too. Easier said than done, of course. Also, the first Senior B comp right out of the gate, at least for some, is typically a bit sketchy. Others are a downright . Let's hope that doesn't happen.

Oh mother that was a fluke, totally a whoops because someone jinxed her with inappropriate boasting.

She handled it so well though, and made sure to remind us of how huge that combination is getting! Dick Button would've had a really animated reaction to that. I'm impressed that she can laugh it off, Karen is becoming a confident strong woman who can handle life's obstacles.

The USFS website lists Champs Camp dates as August 19-23. I think they usually assign the Skate America TBA spots prior to this so any additional athletes can participate. Given how the major summer competitions have gone, any guesses as to who will get the ladies spot? Tennell has made a good case for it, with wins at both Broadmoor and Philadelphia Summer Championships. Zhang, Hicks and Wang seem like other potential choices. I doubt Edmunds' GF performances convinced TPTB that she's ready for two assignments.

Many ladies arrived in Aston with polished, sophisticated free skates that belied the event's early-season date. From Angela Wang's mesmerizing outing to the hypnotic "Circles" by Greta Svabo Bech, to Courtney Hicks' heartfelt "Amazing Grace" and Tessa Hong's light and charming "Fascination," fans that showed up at IceWorks on Sunday were richly rewarded.

In the end, Bradie Tennell came out on top, continuing her strong summer with solid triple lutz-triple toe combinations in both her short, choreographed by Scott Brown to music from the 2004 Korean film Taegukgi, and her free, set to the Cinderella soundtrack with a dash of Prokofiev and created by Benoit Richaud. She placed second in both events and won gold with 184.98 points.

Amber uses a reverse entrance on her combination spin but doesn't need to count it as she proceeds to show about six difficult variations. On her layback spin, she appears to be attempting that difficult entrance feature. I'm curious as to how this will be marked because she does the combination spin first. Is a plain old reverse entrance no longer a difficult variation? I thought the first use of a difficult variation automatically counted as the one used.

If you are referring to a backward entrance, that's no longer a feature. It has to be a difficult entry (illusion, traveling camel, stars, butterfly, etc.).

Angela Wang's LP is an improvement for her IMO and I really enjoyed the Laurine voids with vocals I like the way she performs this piece, overall strong SS and good technique, really pretty and expressive arms, and her skid transition into the back-entrance combination spin is .

I like her, she's a solid and well-rounded skater pretty much everywhere (and seems like a riot based on social media).

The vocals for Karen's SP grate on my nerves. I don't like the music at all. Other than that, her jumps look strong (apart from this SP where she competed injured) and she does indeed have great speed across the ice!

I am pretty sure not. It seemed less effective than Michelle's version which was pretty awesome. I loved Amber's sp but this fs, like courtney's, wasn't quite right IMO. But perhaps when skated better I will like it?
