U.S. Ladies [#18]: These Boots Are Made for Skating

I think Mirai IS working on her PCS by choosing Jeff Buttle as her choreographer - as we have already seen in her SP last year.

Excellent point! I only wish she had started working with Jeffrey several years ago! Hopefully there will be time to show massive improvement in the FS!

eta: I just read about Mirai's SP. It makes me sad that she would consider dropping her Chopin program. She scored so well with it this season! :( Hopefully, if she decides to change it for sure, Jeff will help her come up with something equally awesome or even better.

Mirai Nagasu has confirmed that she is keeping her Chopin SP from last season: https://twitter.com/fsonline/status/883060496353697793

Any news on Hannah Miller, Tyler Pierce, or Amber Glenn? I'm assuming all of them plan to compete this season.

Nice!!

Same music as Scimerim this past season at 4CC and Worlds?

Between Amber, Hannah, Tyler and Bradie I think Amber is gonna have a breakout season and challenge for a spot on Oly team.........

Re-posting from earlier for @jiejie - Hannah Miller had sports hernia surgery in April and wrote about her new programs in her journal post on her website in early June: http://figureskatersonline.com/hannahmiller/main/surgery-new-programs-and-summer-plans/
She has registered to compete in Skate Detroit later this month.

Amber Glenn has new programs as well: http://figureskatersonline.com/amberglenn/events/

I haven't heard anything definitive about Tyler Pierce.
Here's hoping the ladies mentioned, and those not, make such an incredible splash this season, that by the time we get to Nationals, we have no clear idea who might make the Olympic team. Now that would be great!

Everyone needs to stay healthy. Fingers crossed!

hey, if she could pull those 3 jumping passes off back to back after the 2 minutes mark, watch out Janny!

So, Janny wants to use Mirai's music? :drama: How dare! :D

Is there confusion? Are we sure it is not La La Land?! :barrel

Thanks, @Sylvia. I haven't been able to keep up with skating news the last few months nor back-read all the threads. Here's hoping any or all of these three skaters have good seasons and keep things interesting in the US ladies' field.

Oh gosh, I just saw this. That was a good attempt!!

But that music is way too cheesy for her. She is developing a regal style and her costume reflects that. I wish her team would change her music to Tchaikovsky and save this song for her EX.

I think sticking with her black swan would've been safer. But if she's got her program nearly clean, changing it at this point may do more harm than good. If she's connecting with the music, it's best to let her skate to it.

Please don't. I preferred her Pink Panther SP program to her Tchaikovsky FS last year. Let her mix it up. I haven't watched this year's program yet (I prefer to wait until material has had time to gel), but there is no need for more swans.

I liked her Pink Panther too but her style here is not PP. i wasnt thinking of black swan redux, but something abstract. Tchaikovsky wrote more than ballets. Rachmaninov would work too. Again, doesnt have to be the chestnuts.

I do get the point about sticking with the program she's learned, esp with a 3A. Although many skaters have changed programs early in the season.

If her season started in October sure. However the JGP starts in August. It's too late. She needs to focus on her junior version now.

Karen only skated the SP at L.A. Open and I haven't seen anything online about her SP music yet.

I like how Starr went into her opening 3A with no hesitation at all.

Very much this. She appeared fully comfortable with the attempt and bounced right back up and did not let it affect the rest of the program. This how you should attempt new jumps.

A total of 6 ladies were added to the ISP - Avery Kurtz, age 19, in Senior and the other 5 are ISU Junior age-eligible: Ting Cui, Hanna Harrell, Angelina Huang, Ashley Kim, Audrey Shin.

Alexia Paganini has been removed from the ISP.

ETA: I'm impressed USFS is sending FOUR ladies to Hong Kong! Harrell (age 13) and Ciarochi (eta: 14 now) both are coached by Aleksey Letov in Dallas; Shin (age 13) is coached by Arutunian & Co. in Lakewood, CA; Liu (will turn 12 in August after Asian Open) is coached by Laura Lipetsky in Northern California.
