I hope the "job" the police did in this case is an outlier because that case was nuts. Putting evidence in red solo cups and shopping bags, not even clean ones, I think pork DNA was found in them from the food they had been eating! Using a leaf blower to help find evidence... A cop getting drunk and leaving his gun in someone else's car, Trooper Proctor's entire vile existence. I don't know if she did it or not but police officers should know better jfc.

I was in Boston recently visiting family. We went to the local pub for lunch and as it was somewhat empty, the bartender expounded at length on this case.

Apparently when Mr. O'Keefe's body was found in the driveway, the police didn't knock on the door of the home to ask if the homeowners had seen or heard anything. Not even after identifying that the body was that of a cop and one of the residents was also a cop.

If they find a dead body in my driveway, they would knock on my door and my neighbors' anytime of day to see what we knew.

CNN - U.S. v. Combs: Latest updates

The prosecution’s final witness, a DHS agent, was on the stand today. The defense is expected to finish cross examining him tomorrow morning.

The defense says they will present their case this week and we should get closing arguments by Friday.

Is it typical for the defense’s case to be this much shorter than the prosecution’s? Just 2-3 days? ?

United States v. Combs: NBC News Live Updates

The closing arguments are completed. The jury is expected to receive instructions and then start deliberations on Monday.

The defense tried to present to the jury that, yes, Combs was abusive but everything involving drug use and sexual activity was part of consensual and private activity. It was a lifestyle, not trafficking! ? ?

But I’m not sure if it swayed the prosecution’s five hour long closing argument that (I think) did a fairly good job of tying Combs directing an enterprise to coercion and trafficking.

I think it will come down to whether the jury believes that Cassie Ventura and “Jane” were victims. If they do, Combs is probably toast.

I will be shocked if the jury doesn’t reach a verdict before the Fourth of July on Friday.

There are some tragedies that are just so terrible that leaves you lost for words. Stumbled upon this story. Ashley Fonseca was a 37 year old mother of two who became a victim of domestic violence a few days ago. Ashley formerly Morris survived a horrific knife attack that cost her mother and brother their lives when she was only 10. She was also stabbed.
Hope she finds the peace in death that evaded her in life. R.I.P.

Brian Kohlberger in a plea deal to the Idaho murders - will plead guilty to the murders and burglary in return for lifetime prison with no parole.

What a creep.

Here’s more details about the plea deal.

Looks like the sentence will be four consecutive life sentences plus ten years for the burglary. Kohberger also will waive all rights to appeal.

I think the odds were really good that Kohberger was going to be found Guilty as Hell. I’m not sure that he would have actually gotten the death penalty.

At least the families won’t have to sit through a trial - and see the evidence being presented.

Oh, I think he would have gotten the death penalty based on some of the details that have leaked out in recent weeks about the crime. The judge's response last week to the defense request to delay again had some questioning where Xana Kernodle was initially attacked - it sounds like it wasn't in her bedroom with Ethan, but possibly that Kohberger chased her down the hall and into her bedroom after she discovered him in another bedroom. If it was as grisly as it seems from what has already been leaked, I doubt he'd have gotten anything but the death penalty from an Idaho jury.

I understand what you're saying about the trauma for the families & the surviving victims (the roommates) in having to sit through the trial & hear the evidence presented, but I really hope that the public eventually gets to see the evidence the DA & investigators accumulated. There's no way they didn't have him, pardon the expression, dead to rights, if he's accepting a guilty plea with no chance of parole ever & waiving his right to appeal.
According to this, the family of Kaylee Goncalves is furious. I saw somewhere else that the families were not consulted.

No, it doesn't appear that any of the families were consulted. I was listening to a short blip on X earlier from one of the true crime attorneys who appears on News Nation & has a YT show who said she was of the understanding that some of the other victims' family members are less concerned about a death penalty sentence because it won't bring their kids back - and that's perfectly understandable, but I really feel for the Goncalves family because they & the other families should have at least been consulted prior to this happening.

As part of that deal does he has to fully admit that he committed the crime, how he did it, why he did it, etc.? So that he can't say 'oh i woulda never got a fair trail blah blah blah, so I took the plea deal'. I can't believe there are people out there who think he didn't do this (never read the Comments). He should have to stand in front of those families and those words should have to come out of his mouth admitting his guilt and why he did it. And do the families get to make impact statements at this plea meeting or whatever it is?

U.S. v. Combs - CNN: Latest trial update feed

The jury is still deliberating and asking many questions. Now I’m wondering if we’ll get a split verdict. 🤔

Update: The jury has apparently reached a verdict on Counts 2-5 and are still stuck on Count 1. Both sides want the jury to keep deliberating.

Here’s a reminder of the five counts against Combs:
  • Count 1: Racketeering conspiracy
  • Count 2: Sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion – pertains to Victim 1 (Cassie Ventura)
  • Count 3: Transportation to engage in prostitution – pertains to Victim 1 (Cassie Ventura) and commercial sex workers
  • Count 4: Sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion – pertains to Victim 2 (“Jane”)
  • Count 5: Transportation to engage in prostitution – pertains to Victim 2 (“Jane”) and commercial sex workers

I hope it's at least guilty on 2-5 (seems likely), even if innocent on 1 (though I think he's guilty on all). I think count 1 is the hardest to understand.

  • Count 1: Racketeering conspiracy - NOT GUILTY

😱 🤯 😳

I don't understand how they found him not guilty of the sex trafficking. That seemed so clear, same as the counts he was found guilty of.

This is a HUGE win for Diddy.

The prosecution badly fumbled this case. Midway through their presentation, I kept wondering when they were going to tie this “enterprise” together. I’m guessing that the jury didn’t see it and they weren’t convinced that any fraud or coercion happened, either.

It looks like The Mann Act basically makes any transportation across state lines for prostitution a federal crime, even if the workers are consenting for their “services”.

I think the United States is the only country that has racketeering “RICO” as a statue.
