Just saw this in the NYT. A reporter Mr. Manzano for a Spanish speaking tv station in Kansas City was found dead in his hotel room in New Orleans. He was there to cover the Suoerbowl. A woman has been arrested. Apparently she is a serial criminal who drugged men and robbed them of cash, credit cards. She was caught in 2022 for other crimes but somehow the cases against her were dropped by the courts. Mr. Manzano’s wife was killed in a car crash in April 2024. The couple leaves behind a toddler/baby around 2 years old, it seems.

What’s puzzling is why was this woman not in a prison after committing so many crimes? She had a pattern of drugging men and taking their valuables ($50k and $60k plus expensive watches). She was even known in the area as a criminal. A man lost his life. I hope they don’t dismiss this as an accidental death.
The lesson here is - don’t trust strangers. Normally women would be at the receiving end, but men need to be careful too.
