I discovered a way to raise money for the Granite Mountain Fund through an invitation i received through an email. Based on it, i uploaded several of my pictures on their App ('Only the brave' campaign). For each like a picture receives, they donate 10 cents to the fund. So far i have raised $4.00 (LOL), but i am quite excited about the opportunity to raise money for a worthy cause. If you can access my facebook (i know some of you can), please feel free to 'like' the pictures. I think these are probably in the public domain if you go through the Pixhug App. Your likes can go to any of the pictures on it, and not just mine.

You may also look up www.pixhug.com

ETA- Looks like I have raised $20 so far, and I don't even know most of these people!

Co-workers buy single dad a car

Trenton Lewis' legs ached from the 11-mile walk he made every morning to get to his 4 a.m. shift. And yet the 21-year-old dutifully did it for seven long months.

He didn't tell anyone. He's never been one for excuses -- especially when it comes to providing for his 14-month-old daughter, Karmen.

Love this story and had to share it. :)

I had set a $100 goal for the donations. As of today, $104 have been raised.

I hope they will all find happy homes with loving families.
I've noticed that Sasha seems to be strutting around the house with her tail held high doing her little pantera negra pride thing. Or...maybe it's just my imagination. ;)
No not your imagination! I swear my Abigail and the Fur Mama (a.k.a. Hazel) have a little extra swagger in their step of late. :cat:

Jessica Chastain donates to fertility treatment fund for woman who disagreed with her pro-choice views

I wish we'd see more examples of people who can agree to disagree, but in the most civil of terms. And for Chastain to up the ante with making a donation to a stranger is incredible. And then the article adds this:

Chastain also made headlines in January when costar Octavia Spencer revealed that Chastain used her influence to ensure that both women made the same salary for their next film.

Chastain for president! :cheer:

WHAT? A male lifting his tunic to expose his bare thighs? (...did she spank him?) Content considered to be too risque for those poor women? (...fainting couch please!) Cupid's mountain of love? (...dirty minds perpetuated by that little devilish Cupid!) And a couple (...male and female) eating...oysters? OYSTERS! Oysters, I tell you! OMG! Shocking...just shocking!
SOUNDS LIKE INNOCENT CHILD'S PLAY WHEN COMPARED TO STORMY DANIELS AND "DAVID DENNISON" , AKA LEADER OF THE FREAK WORLD!

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists from the 'Washington Post' and 'The New York Times' for coverage of stories of national interest must be very comforting to TrumPutin! Imagine...journalistic honors for all of that fake news. :HA!:

Small acts of kindness mean so much! Last Friday, before I went to the airport for my flight to Seattle, i parked my car at the off-airport parking, as I always do. In my hurry I forgot to lock the car. I asked the driver of the shuttle if we could go back to that row so I could lock my car. She said she woukd do it later (manually, using the automatic lock). After a couple of minutes, she must have sensed my discomfort, although I had not exoressed it either verbally or through my facial expressions. The driver asked the other passengers if they were Ok if we went back to where my car was and they said yes. She drove back to where my car was, opened the van door (though it was not necessary), and I locked the car using the remote. I was very grateful. Later, when we got off at the curbside check in, she saw me struggle to pull the bags and she came back to put the bags where they needed to be. It is nice to see people going beyond their duties to help others, even in small ways.

California police appear to have caught the East Area Rapist/Golden State Killer. They have a DNA match. For those unfamiliar, he was a serial rapist and murderer responsible for at least 50 rapes and 12 murders between 1979-1986. It is incredible that this case has been solved after 30+ years.

I hope they lock him away for good, without parole.

I want to move to Sweden, even though I am not planning on having children- ever. It must be nice to live in a progressive country.

Canada is less progressive than Sweden, but more so than the US. We do have both maternity leave and paternity leave here, but IIRC the latter is less than the former. And universal health care.

A medical issue can be stressful on a family, and I can't imagine what it would be like to have to consider how to feed your family when one is facing a large medical bill and having to deal with the insurance - seems so complicated! What a huge ordeal for families!

The two black men arrested at Starbucks in Philadelphia settled with the city for $2 ($1 each). The city will need to pay $200,000 to educate people about racial equality (paraphrasing) for long term positive impact of this event.

These guys don't belong in today's greedy world. I hope they are getting something from Starbucks. They should not have been arrested.
