Announcement from NISA (ignore the "Synchronised" in the headline): http://www.iceskating.org.uk/index....ating-championships-2018-selection-amendment/
Following a very successful outcome at the PyeongChang2018 Olympic Winter Games, Penny and Nick will not be taking part in the World Championships next month in order to give Penny the opportunity to fully rehabilitate her knee.
This means Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson are selected as NISA / GBR representatives for Ice Dance. Lilah and Lewis also achieved the Olympic Winter Games qualifying score and are relishing the opportunity to compete on the World stage following very successful recent performances in Bavaria and Torun.
Nick and Penny, and the rest of NISA, wish Lilah and Lewis all the very best!
Thanks to @victorskid for posting the news and link in the Kiss & Cry section.

Do the TES minimums carry over to other countries?

Per a poster in another thread, the answer is yes. Scores carry over.

With Coomes & Buckland and Fournier-Beaudry & Sorenson out, that opens a big door. The odds just got a little better for Russia to get three spots. And for Hawayek & Baker if they get called up. And Spain may really wish they were sending Hurtado & Khaliavin.

1 French team
2 Italian teams
Stepanova & Bukin
2 or 3 U.S. teams, depending on which teams confirm
2 Canadian teams

Someone else is getting in the top ten.

I think it'll likely be 3 USA teams even if one of the top 3 skips. Hawayek/Baker should be able to make it (as long as they don't mess up the twizzles like they sometimes have) if they were to go.

For the last top 10 spot, I'd guess Zagorski/Guerreiro, Kaliszek/Spodyriev, or Soucisse/Firus as the most likely.

Z/G have a SB of 169.81 from CS Minsk, but only got 162.24 at the Olympics. They had 168.45 at Euros in Russia.
K/S have a SB of 168.58 from Tallinn Minsk, but only got 161.35 at the Olympics. They had 164.48 at Euros.
S/F have a SB of 164.96 from 4CC, which is also their most recent competition.

Small possibility also for M/R, who have an SB of 163.86 from 4CC. They had 160.63 at the Olympics.

.

What? C/B out? why?

Yes, H/K would have a great chance of getting into top 10 (with Zagorski/Guerreiro being their main rivals) and securing two spots for Spain at next season's Worlds now, whereas Smart/Diaz are unlikely to get into top 10, unless they have improved drastically during this short time.

And, interestingly, tied for top 6 on base value in the FD there.

Well, Smart & Diaz defeated Zagorski & Guerreiro head to head at Golden Spin.

S&D's fans may wish they had not been so quick to deride those results. S&D also defeated Kaliszek & Spodyriev and Soucisse and Firus head-to-head at Skate Canada. S&D's SB score is behind a number of teams that could factor. Hurtado & Khaliavin's odds were better, IMO. But that doesn't mean it's impossible for Spain to grab that tenth spot.

Latest update is that the Shibs are out, H/B in
Icenetwork tweet:

Max replaces Adam, after Jason and Ross passed on going to worlds. Kaitlin and Jean-Luc replace the Shibutanis.

Bets on the podium?
I think H/D are in if they don't majorly screw up.
Another spot could be between C/B, W/P and C/L.
S/B with outside shot.

Wait the Shibs are out? Why? (Sorry I must have missed something...)

The news is just out and it didn't say why. I guess they have commitments with sponsors and other new opportunities opening up after the medal. Judging on social media they have been doing that non stop since after Pyeongchang.

So a podium of P/C, H/D and S/B is looking likely to me.

As of now, they're still planning to compete, but they could withdraw in the next few weeks.

Agreed except I think Cappellini/Lanotte have a better shot of a medal than Stepanova/Bukin unless there's some score increases/decreases happening. I think the silver medal is has Hubbell/Donohue's name on it unless this is one of those weird Worlds where the judges start scoring teams like Weaver/Poje, Gilles/Poirier, Chock/Bates closer to Hubbell/Donohue than they did at the Olympics and make it a real competition.

Weaver and Poje are now Canada #1, and wuzrobbed of team gold. Get those politik points!

Is Chock still injured? Will she be fined like Flatt, or is that stupid rule gone?

I'm sorry that the Shibs won't be at worlds but I understand and agree they should take advantage of the opportunities coming their way. But I'll be very glad to see H/B whom I like very much.

This is one reason to be glad PapCiz didn't win OGM. They might have skipped worlds and we'd then have a less than stellar world gold medalist.

I think the fine for Flatt was b/c she failed to report her injury to USFS. Skaters in envelopes/assigned to comps are required to report injuries. It sounds like USFS was aware of Madison's injury, esp since it occurred shortly before Champs Camp and she said at the Olys that she would be getting PT after aggravating the injury in the SD warmup.

Right. It's not competing while injured that's problamatic, because everyone does that to some degree. It's the not being honest about the injury.

I'm torn because I wanted to see the Shibs one last time this season, yet Hawayek/Baker are FINALLY going to Worlds.

I can understand the Shibs though, they must have a ton of opportunities and let's face it, must BE exhausted. All of the skaters must be really worn out. When I go on instagram, they either deal with jetlag, stuffy noses, or sick from travelling. At least, the best they ever skated was in Korea so they are ending the season on a good note !

And I can't decide between a home bronze for C/L or for a double Maddie podium. I guess I can wait to next season for the double Maddie podium.
I expect C/L will medal barring a major error, but a double Maddie podium would be awesome!

I wonder if not competing at the Olys will put S/B at a disadvantage, or give them an advantage/sympathy, or maybe have no effect at all.

I am beyond thrilled for the medal possibilities at worlds.

Could it be
-Hubbell/Donohue finally winning a world medal?
-Weaver/Poje mounting a comeback and getting back in the judges' good graces?
-Cappellini/LaNotte ending their career with a final medal on home ice?
-Stepanova/Bukin soaring on to the podium and beginning their reign as Russia's number one?
-Chock/Bates overcoming injury and returning to the podium with an emotional Imagine free Dance?

Part of me would be happy for each of these scenarios. May the best teams win!
