Queerty's Pride50 "celebrates 50 extraordinary LGBTQ+ personalities who have made an impact and inspired us in the last year" - their May 26, 2024 Amber feature:

Love some of the highlights in this article.

Glenn has revealed more about the backstory of the dark times between her junior championship and when she came out. She has made those hard times into a message to help others and has been an outspoken advocate in growing conversation among athletes about mental health.

“As a junior athlete, I had crises that were overlooked in order for me to ‘do my job,’” Glenn said to Olympics.com. “I struggled in silence until eventually everything fell apart. Since then, I’ve refused to let my mental health deteriorate for short-term success.”

She also relished in being a queer role model inside and outside her sport. At nationals and at world championships in Montreal this spring, there were a few more Pride flags among the spectators. Many of those are a sign of support for Glenn’s pluck and persistence.

And she’s shown that she is not done even at the old-for-figure-skating age of 24. She was tenth at worlds but became the second U.S. woman to land a triple axel in competition.

She also plans to make a run at being a part of the U.S. Olympic Team for 2026 in Milan-Cortina, Italy.

Given what Amber Glenn has overcome so far, smart money says she’ll be out, loud, proud and at those Olympic Games ready to skate. We look forward to watching her continue to flourish for many, many years to come.

Polina Edmunds' latest podcast episode (June 11, 2024) - "I sit down with 2024 National Champion Amber Glenn and catch up on the past three years of her career!":

I am going to listen to it. When I click on the link and I see a picture in the upper left corner, is that Edmunds? If so, I would not recognize her anymore if I walked past her. Wow

Congratulations to Amber who won the free program as well and the gold medal at Lombardía.

Outstanding dress and make up in the free program as well. Here is the free program. well done. Just amazing. First US skater to do the triple axel in the short as well as short and free I believe.

Great competition for Amber! And two good programs this season! Hopefully this is the start of a strong season for her.

ETA - mind, I'm not a fan of the operatic wailing in the SP but the program works for her.

I'm so happy for Amber! A great competition so early in the season. I'm sure she's not happy about the popped salchow and stepping out of the flip, but the really good thing is that she didn't unravel. After each of those mistakes, she landed the next jump.

But, yeah, I do feel sorry for her training mates who have to hear the SP wailing every day.

Tonya Harding landed a clean 3Axel+2toe in the SP and a clean 3Axel in the FP at the 1991 Skate America to defeat Kristi Yamaguchi in that event, so she is the first. I believe Alysa Liu has also completed a 3Axel in a SP and a 3Axel in the FP in the same event as well. Still, a wonderful accomplishment for Amber Glenn!! So thrilled for her and I love her programs this season!! I’m surprised at the criticisms of her SP music; it’s Janet Jackson, people!! I really hope this positive momentum continues through the entire season! <3

Short program music suggestion for Amber’s Olympic season

I know most of you all have been listening to Chappell Roan for a year now, but I just started listening to her at the airport the other day, and I cannot get good luck babe out of my mind, Chappell Roan is out and proud LGBTQ plus queer, and I just can’t stop bopping to her lyrics or her songs.

Would love to see her skate to *Good luck babe.”

Saw this linked in Amber’s Instagram story today:
After some major ups and downs last season, skater Amber Glenn celebrated a major victory as 2024 US Champion! While standing at the top of the podium Amber became the first openly queer woman to win do so. She's also made history at the 6th American woman to land the triple axel (woah!). And while celebrating the highs in her career Amber has also been transparent about the lows, sharing her struggles with mental health and advocating and resources. Amber's honest, talent & passionate personality draws in audiences on and off the ice! Today we dive in to: What it was like winning the 2024 US Skating Championship after a tough season; Value of mental training for sport, especially skaters; Responsibility and honor to be a role model for young athletes.

After Lombardia Trophy I was so motivated and really wanted to keep going. “This was my first time in forever I didn’t to Skate America. Also some of my rinkmates went to the Challenger in Nice that weekend. It was kind of hard to have everyone going and I “had to keep at home training.”
“Also as my rinkmate Elyce was going and we were preparing together. I felt like I really wanted to go myself.”
The reason why Amber didn’t compete at Skate America was that she and Isabeau both want to qualify for the final and they didn’t want to edge out each other.
“Next season I will have a comparison what works better for me.”
She said she was in contact with Elyce after all of her performances at the GP. “I noticed that the advice I gave to her I should also apply myself.”
Asked on what that advice was she said: “Mainly to be kind on yourself. This carried the ‘weight of the world’ on herself, by herself and but also by others. She is the hardest worker I know. So I told her to be kind and generous to herself. But that’s of course much easier said than done.”

CONGRATS to Amber on winning her first Grand Prix GOLD (SP yesterday was the key!), despite mistakes in her FS today. Mental strength was on display! :)

Olympics.com article by Lena Smirnova (Nov. 19) - Amber Glenn on expressing her feminine power: “I no longer compare myself to others”: https://olympics.com/en/news/figure...wer-strength-femininty-age-advocacy-interview
Excerpts:
While these are two very different programs, for Glenn, both feel like an authentic expression of her true self.
"They've all been challenging in different ways, but I feel like this year they're a lot more comfortable and they feel more like they come from within," Glenn said. "The short program, I would say, is a lot more bold and I have a lot of fun doing it. It's a good time and it's dynamic and it's exciting. It gets the crowd really thrilled. But I really do enjoy those softer, more melancholy and dark feminine kind of feelings, like my free skate. I just love the artistic side of it, and so I love both equally."
"I want to be remembered as someone who wanted to make a change in the sport, that wanted to help make a positive difference in not just ladies figure skating, but all of it in how we are perceived and how we are treated as athletes," Glenn said of the legacy she wants to leave in the sport she has dedicated 20 years of her life to.
"I really want to help with that community and with that atmosphere. I feel like myself, along with many others, have really made a change in the skating community just in the last five to 10 years, and I want to continue that for as long as I can."

Well, I had to get up well before the crack of dawn for my flight to Asia, so I logged into Peacock and just want to say... WTG Amber! What a milestone for her to be in gold medal contention and still skate a free with all eight triples. She may not vie for gold at the World Championships if Kaori is on her game, but she can definitely win a medal. So happy for her.
