The Amazing Race 29 - complete strangers

The camera folks and editors must dislike Shamir or know we r so entertained by his acting like a poor baby. I feel for Sara though, it has to be so stressful being around him.
Bummed that Matt and Redmond r still there, would have preferred their exit over Seth and olive.
I am starting to know who is who now. Some good racers.

Loved Butterfly up in the tree- and I loved the kids in the class room
For Survivor watchers- Butterfly- something Ozzi could do, and Tai.

Personally, I love Matt and Redmond. I've always been against alliances, so not "honouring" a promise while racing is fine by me. Speaking of which, geez Ashton, tell us how you really feel about it.

I feel like Shamir should have been penalized last week for smashing that window. I'm sorry, but that kind of reaction is not acceptable. I, too, giggled when he got a splinter tonight. Either he's just whiny or he has the lowest pain threshold I've ever seen.

Sorry to see Seth and Olive go. They were a good team. I think I'll root for Matt and Redmond now (hey I'm an old school TAR fan. I was a season 5 Colin fan and he was a total ass, but an awesome racer. I'd rather take that than "boo hoo you cut in line, how rude").

Speaking of "meanies", see I was totally right when I said that team "fun" wouldn't be so fun as soon as trouble came around. I love how Becca went from "OMG FUN METER" to "You're a @#$%^&%#$%" :biggrinbo Oh man, this is good stuff.

Anyway, here's a general opinion and prediction (predictions based on what I've seen so far and my own instinct having watched the race for over a decade and a half; no spoilers whatsoever) of each remaining team in tonight's check in order:
Liz & Michael - good team, not necessarily strong; will do well as long as they are given tasks they're strong at, not good at dealing with adversity together.
Tara & Joey - annoying as hell, weak but lucky; I'm getting Dandrew vibes from them (aka never at the top but always hanging on somehow)
Vanck & Ashton - annoying Ashton, stronger than team #2 but likely to fall apart anytime soon
Matt & Redmond - strong, cool headed (the "we're gonna get ya" was obviously to mess with them and not real), good at playing the game; so far no major weaknesses shown; I'm getting a "contenders but not winners" edit vibe with them.
London & Logan - forgettable, not strong but not weak either; I'm confused as to whether I'm getting a "under the radar contenders" or "they're getting the boot in the near future so don't get attached to them" vibe.
Brooke & Scott - time bomb, enough said; however, based on NEP I'd say they're not leaving the race anytime soon; also, they annoy me more than any other team, so sadly they're likely to last.
Shamir & Sara - another ticking time bomb; they'll either leave the race very soon or make it very far, but unlikely to be finale/winning team contenders
Becca & Floyd - not strong, not weak, ok racers so long as they don't run into trouble, and I knew it was a matter of time before the happy go lucky attitude went out the window (or fanny pack).

Now remember, I've been wrong before many many times . Who knows, maybe they changed the way they edit their contestants. Then again, it took me 10 minutes to figure out that the girl/girl team would be eliminated last week because they totally got the "going home tonight" edit early on the episode (bummer though, I liked them, they had potential, bad luck).

Whatever happens with Shamir, Sara should be happy with the race; she and Logan are a couple and apparently very happy together :).

That's an oxymoron. If one is against "alliances" then one should not form them, or the one who watching should reject validity of any outcome from such. Not "honoring" an agreement is despicable, especially if it's intentional and one entered into a contract knowing in advance that he/she will not honor it.

TAR was a decent show so far, where winning was based on meritocracy. If viewership is going down, perhaps TAR can come up with other forms of excitement, other than "lying, cheating, stealing"... we already have "Survivor" for that.

@Tinami Amori Well of course, in real life one should always honour a promise/agreement/contract. I'm all for that. On the Race, however, it's different because you have 11 or 12 teams battling against other teams. Helping someone out is a poor strategy, and historically it's been the weaker teams forming alliances to increase their chances of staying in the race. Back in the day (the good ol' TAR days) no one helped anyone other than in desperate situations (remember the "Relinquish all your money and belongings" after a NEL? I would gladly spare some cash or an extra sweater if I had the chance). Now, waiting for another team to arrive, potentially putting your own team at a disadvantage is another story. And of course, giving another team the answers to a Q&A task is total bull**** and should not be allowed.

I don't consider what Matt&Redmond did as cheating. To me, cheating would be telling another team's cab driver to leave while said team is still completing a task, or hiding tools during a task (the latter one has been done before, don't remember when, but I recall a major penalty being imposed), or things such as buying a team the wrong plane tickets on purpose (remember when teams could buy multiple tickets for the same flight? I recall that sometimes teams would give another teams their credit card so they could reserve their tickets online; luckily, no team ever did something like that, but imagine needing tickets to Vienna and getting tickets to Venice instead. Yeah, that'd be pretty bad).

Matt and Redmond certainly did well with having to do two detours. It was smart to U-Turn them as they have a great chance of winning this. Although if they continue to play dirty, I can see everyone else in the cast ganging up to get rid of them. Their not lining up like everyone else did made me think of that time when competitors were running to a travel agent office in an airport and the guy basically body-checked his female competitor, making her fall to the ground. He acted as if he didn't mean to knock her out of the way, but who knows what some people will resort to?

I didn't like the idea of alliances when that first started happening. But like how the game of Survivor has changed, so has The Amazing Race. Now alliances are part of the game...who to make them with, when to make them and when do your drop the alliance you've made? I agree with @Tinami Amori that if you're not into alliances...don't form them. Why bother making an alliance if you're just going to screw over those people? Unless that's your game play. Kind of like a fake sucker punch. "HA HA...MADE YOU BLINK"! Just makes one look like a jerk, IMHO.

But was it really an alliance? It seemed more like a quick agreement that since they were the first two teams, they'd just try to share a cab for money purposes. Alliance seems like a more long term "We'll work together for multiple legs" sort of thing. (Of course, I still think it was dumb of them to do what they did, but I don't think it was breaking an alliance.)

As for alliances themselves, sometimes they're a good idea, but sometimes people don't seem to know when to break them. Season 22, for example, with Max and Katie allying with Bates and Anthony. The hockey boys were clearly a very strong team, yet they were never U-turned. Instead, the one group of teams continually just went after Joey/Meghan and Mona/Beth.

Well now that Liz&Michael have won two they could each take one trip.
I'd rather win a trip OR hard cash than random things (remember when Dustin and Kandice won like 3 different type of ATV's? They kept joking about winning fun "toys") but you're right, perhaps a trip for two is not such a great idea this time around. And I doubt they're giving them a trip for two to each team member, so for those teams winning an uneven number of trips they'll just have to come to an agreement (or go together and pretend like they're all alone).

The first place "trip for two" prizes are a bit awkward if they expect the teammates to take them together. I don't think some of these people are going to want to hang out again after this....

They'll probably split them however best they can. Similarly to how I imagine friends or non-couple family teams must do, when some of the trips sometimes come off as sounding romantic.

I would rather receive cash. I would think if you take the trip - you have to claim it as taxable income - and the price might be higher than one would expect.

Apparently Shamir is NOT as much of a jerk as he seemed before. He's definitely a hothead, but he seems to understand that he needs to step up and that his behavior was not really appropriate.

Video of Shamir/Sara at the pitstop from the past week's episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgJ52czG0ZI

I will admit, though, that I still laughed at the fact that it looks like he might hurt himself again in the episodes coming up this week: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBIG9nv01ZY

I'm bummed that Seth & Olive were eliminated. They're a big team to have out this early, everyone else must be excited. That being said, I've always thought the U-turn is a bit of a raw deal, but at least two teams take the fall now.

Matt & Redmond annoy me, I seem to be one of the few on here who think that

I think it's pretty shitty to have the very last task of the leg require teams to use their seed money to complete it. It might very well be in the rules and the teams could know that the possibility for needing to budget for such a task that could happen at anytime, but it seemed to me that the vendors were price gouging when the cameras showed up, and I hated seeing teams need to beg to complete the challenge.

First time to watch this season so I don't know who's who, but the girl in black crying because she can't cut the metal, needs to turn the sheers THE RIGHT way instead of whining. She had them upside down, the idiot.

Brooke. Her partner is Scott.

And she owes pretty much every team something by this point since she's gotten help from almost all of them, lol.

The only sad thing about Shamir/Sara being done is that there's no more joking about Shamir getting injured.

(Didn't want to be completely spoiley quite yet so white-texted parts. Just highlight to read.)

Omg. Can we vote Brooke out? STFU!! What a whiny cry baby! Scott is a saint for not killing her, yet.
She is so negative and needs so much reassurance, one of the most annoying insecure contestants ever. Makes Shamir seem not as bad. Glad he is gone, but hope Brooke is gone asap
Liz n Michael, what a change, hope they can recover as they started off so well.
Matt n remond seemed ok these 2 episodes, but it is relative against Brooke

That Kid at the top of the mountain at the Pit Stop was funny. His face was like 'wwwhhhaattttt????'.

OMG I could have never eaten the raw fish. It may be a delicacy in Norway but I'm gagging just thinking about it. I hate fish. Did both Team members have to eat it cause I would have made my partner eat it all. I would lie and say I'm allergic to seafood. :p

Was anticipating either a NEL or a 'not done racing' yet so kinda wanted Red Beard to stop bickering and just get there because they were wasting precious minutes if it turned out to be a 'continue racing' leg, which it was. I was starting to like him, and while I do kinda agree with some of his arguments, he wouldn't shut up and let Liz (is that her name?) speak. So he fell back down a little for me.

If Team Fun Girl would not have cut Brooke's tin, she would still be there to this day. I would probably have a hard time doing that too as I have no arm or hand strength, but that's the time when you think of people you really, really hate and imagine pounding the hell out of them. I woulda burned thru that task in 5 minutes on anger alone.

And again with people losing track of their Fanny Packs!! :duh: That is the most important aspect of the Game! How do you not make sure you have that every time you leave some place you put your bags down?!

So Team Fun cannot use their Express Pass anymore, as tonight was the last night they could use it? Did I hear that correctly?

Enjoyable 2 eps tonight! Loved Team Fun's faces at the pit stop when they found out they weren't #1. I assume that was no fault of their own, that it just took that long to do the skydiving.
