Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir #48: Long Time Running

Is it just me or have all the different broadcasts of the Sochi SD been removed from YouTube? There used to be several versions and I can’t find any of them now.

I like this article. Interesting to know what TS mean, when they are talking about making programs without ISU requirements. They were criticized so many times for dancing in one place, didn't show more flow in MJ ex, but that's what they want to do and can't in competition, they want maybe dance more, than skate.
As for choreography they talked about Cote before, but didn't used his choreo after coming back. Will they ask him to do programs? Don't know, will wait and see.
Don't know about new direction, maybe they are talking about more contracts for Tessa and more mentoring work for Scott with young ice dancers? (I love he already worked with teams in Toronto, when he didn't have a lot off time).
And when "in near future"? With such show schedule its hard to work a lot with other projects, no?

It is such a promising and interesting article.
I guess this is what scott was talking about when they said that they are not satisfied wth only stepping in the ice for 2 minutes, they desire to make shows with full creative control.
The only weird thing is that in the podcast Tessa said she only wishes to express herself creatively through movement for a short while longer (with what to me sounded like emphasis on short) and then she is ready to move one, yet this article suggests both of them are full of dancing related wishes they want to live out.

Stars on Ice in Calgary tonight!! I can hardly wait. I am going with my friend and I think we have good seats although they are not side by side but the best I could get after having waited too long. Beautiful sunny day here - the first after a few days of rain - but it looks welcoming for our heroes.

After CSOI I feel kind of stunned by how fantastic the show is. I have no idea what the attendance was but certainly the largest audience I have ever been a part of and each bow received a huge, almost deafening roar from the side of the arena they faced. Getting in and then home again was no small feat. Tessa and Scott were just great and MR brought the house down. The whole evening was very cohesive with skater after skater really capturing the moment. I especially loved the group numbers - each unique - and memorable. Jeff and his co-workers deserve huge credit. The Olympic gold medal team number to "Fields of Gold" is amazing but I could use "amazing" to describe so much. It felt like we we part of a huge love fest - skaters to the audience and audience to the skaters. The affection and connection between the skaters felt very tangible and real. Just a great cross country tour of full out celebration!

I'm off to CSOI in Vancouver tomorrow. Can someone tell me if MR is in the first or second half of the show? Thanks.

In the interview when she talks about looking at their competitors and thinking they’re great but also they didn’t have the obstacles that her and Scott did, that resonated with me. Because very often I see the argument (particularly in the GOAT thread) that because DW had more dominant seasons etc. VM can’t be considered GOAT. I can’t help but feel that the fact that those two teams had almost identical records in the time they competed against each other is a testament to Scott and Tessa’s talent, because they did that despite 2 seasons of injury. And who knows what sort of career they’d have without her injuries.

The two teams were equals when they were training together and competing against each other. IMO. I definitely preferred V/M, but still believe they were equals. Though I did particularly like D/W FD in 2014. However, IMO Zoueva gave V/M the winning FD in 2010 and D/W the winner in 2014 (not surprising that she want each to have an OG medal).

But it is V/M's return and their win of a second OG that makes them GOAT IMO.

Funny how everywhere else but here people accept V/M as GOATs.Those people in that thread think that being the most dominant is the only factor to being the GOAT. Do these folks forget V/M are:
Olympics:
  • The most decorated figure skaters in Olympic history[6]
  • The fourth most decorated Canadian Olympians ever[84]
  • The first and only team to take ice dance gold in their Olympic debut[85]
  • The first and only team to take ice dance gold at the Olympics before they won Worlds[85]
  • The youngest team to ever take ice dance gold at the Olympics[85]
  • The first and only ice dance team to ever win Olympic gold on home ice[85]
  • The first ice dance team from North America to take ice dance Olympic gold, breaking Europe's 34-year streak[24]
  • The first former junior world champions to win Olympic gold in ice dance
  • The first figure skaters in 38 years to win three Olympic golds
  • The second ice dance team to win three Olympic medals in ice dance
  • The second ice dance team to win two individual Olympic gold medals and the first one to do it in nonconsecutive Olympics
  • The first duo to carry the Canadian flag at an Olympic opening ceremony[86]

- The global and audience impact of Moulin Rouge that only Bolero Rivals
- The junior ice dancers who look up to them more than any other team (H/B, I/K, C/P)
- Their unmatched versatility, Chemistry, and Athleticism
- bonus: Being Yuna Kims fav ice dancers and having Yuzu fanboy over Tessa (pics and quotes if you don't believe me)
- Being known in your own country as icons
- Being known in general in your own country
- Being the highlight alongside yuzuru hanyu of the Pyeongchang games.

But I guess on this forum having season's best scores for a few seasons and more GPF golds mean's more than the above I suppose *shrugs* by that logic i guess D/W are the GOAT, sorry T/D and V/M *rolls eyes*

Pretty cool. And it was nice that she acknowledged it. Last night of CSOI is tonight gonna miss all the content we’ve gotten from it, but now they start their Asian tours with ATS this weekend.

I am still bitter I didn't get a slice the cake looked soooo goood.

I will post some videos from All That Skate, if someone is still interested ;). I am kidding, but I know that all of us have seen these programs hundreds of times (perhaps an exaggeration, but you know what I mean), but fan videos from All That Skate are really some of the best. I haven't watched them all from start to finish, so I am not so sure about all the angles. Just posting the ones which look like the comparatively best quality (there are also those that are not so great among all those loads of videos, of course):

You Rock My World, the first day, May 20:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Yv7Fb6YZt4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ved8V1XDIGs (this is actually the best quality so far)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpUBiuQvw5w
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1mEBb2oBmg (I recommend to watch at 480p quality, not 720p quality, as, at least for me, it slows down/catches a bit at 720p)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jocqwDnfYGE

The second day, May 21:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfgLDi788Os

Moulin Rouge, the first day, May 20:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGQpVQeUQeI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9u_U8nv5Bk&t=11s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsxknPBNSUs&t=135s (the picture quality would be one of the best if it was not a bit distorted)

The second day, May 21:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LNRzsSzH50
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6vNkWWtsEE&t=43s

Will post more as they come. I have not watched all the opening and finale videos, so I am not posting them yet. Will post them later when I will have watched some, but the finale is very Yuna centered in any case.

Edit:

Act 1 Opening, the first day, May 20:

More All That Skate videos:

You Rock My World, day 1, May 20:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwBs2eSBdAA (another channel of the same 'jewelskaters' uploader as before, also the same video, but the catching/slowing down is mostly fixed - recommended because of the picture quality)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfK2Azwk0NQ (pretty great video, but, again, recommend to watch at 480p quality)

Day 2, May 21:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1PdHAAWESI (recommended to watch at 480p quality)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzTPgoWkK8U (such great picture quality, but a bit shaky)

Day 3, May 22:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwOd5vwIYzM (the professional video from TV, but it's a question if it's really better than some of the fan videos + the talking is distracting)

Moulin Rouge, day 1, May 20:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JA_sV13b1fo

Day 2, May 21:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgR3C-48zhQ&t=17s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5E5Etnax2A (recommended to watch at 480p quality)

Day 3, May 22:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flFjG2rEuF0 (the professional video from TV)
