The event page is down, but if my memory and my calculations are all correct -- Samodelkina won, with Muravieva in 2nd. Samodurova finished 4th in the free, 5th overall. Guliakova finished in 6th and Nugumanova in 11th.
Yes, Nugumanova is definitely out of RusNats. Gulyakova needs a top three finish in her next stage.
A nice surprise was Yametova who finished 3rd. That will Q her to Nationals.

Nugu needs to find a country that’ll adopt her in the run-up to 2026. I can’t even say Cyprus because they’re overflowing with Sr W talent.

Maybe Monaco is looking for a wonderful Sr Woman skater? It wouldn’t be such a stretch...Ballets Russes de Monte-Carlo???!!! Large historic community of Russian exiles.

What about one of the former USSR countries? Kazakhstan? Azerbaijan? Ukraine? Georgia? By 2026 they could all have 2 or 3 entries if there is an exodus of talented young Russian women Who will never get a chance in Russia?

Who will Guliakova's competition be at her next stage? Anyone know? I'm afraid she may not make it either. She got a lot of carrots and a lot of negative GOE on her jumps today.

Oh my GOD, if only that were true!!! I am a Monaco-phile. That would be a dream if someone were to skate for Monaco. I'd go every year for "Nationals",for sure! lol. Maybe not Nugumanova, but someone young who can easily switch and reign for years. Someone like Daria Sadkova, perhaps? Oh man, if only Russia would be smart to spread their talent out there... Petrosyan in Armenia. Frolova in Kazakstan. All the possibilities.... I'm wondering if most of the upcoming juniors who we were surprised/shocked didn't get JGP assignments were/are actually in the process of switching countries. (No I'm not starting rumors, I'm just supposing). But, anyway, GO MONACO!

Glad to read about another Monaco fan!

Culturally, it would seem to be a perfect fit, not least of all the connection with Russian exiles after 1918. Do you know that I’m such a huge Russian Imperial Ballet fan that I actually once went to Monaco to seek out “ballet spots,” including the hillside mansion of THE Imperial Prima Ballerina Assoluta, Mathilde Kchessinskaya...ex-lover of the last Tsar?! Yes! The little beach below what was her house is now called “Plage Mala” in her honor...Mala being her nickname. I walked down those rocks...nearly fell on my arse, LOL, just to walk in Mala’s footsteps. Technically, Mala beach & house are in Cap d’Ail, France, just across the border fm Monaco.

The gorgeous but small opera house inside the famous Casino - where so many great Ballets-Russes works premiered - is another must-see for any ballet lover.

I vote for Nugu to skate for Monaco! 🇲🇨 She has that “Prima look and style” whatever her music and theme.

Oh my gosh, I wish that was my life! Do you dance, also? I was never really good, but to dance for the Monaco ballet would have been career heaven! Oh please let someone like Daria Sadkova who does (or can) look the part go there. Heck, send Isabeau Levito to Monaco!! I'm behind her all the way! lol

Here is Sofia Samodelkina's (Софья Самоделкина) winning LP at Russia Cup Stage 3. Congratulations!!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPoYx7fItpk

Sofia S was one of my big faves among this year’s JGP skaters. She really stands out as “a cut above” others for her expressiveness. She may be skating to Carmen but quite the unique version...not the standard Bizet.

Isabeau, I believe, will own Team USA Sr Women after 2022...so I won’t mind keeping her right here.

PM me if you ever need “ballet travel tips,” esp concerning historical sites. 😉 EspRussia. I met my husband during a ballet festival at the Mariinsky Theatre in 2003. Swan Lake.

The fact that she is skating to that Carmen and I actually like it to me shows that she is a talent to look for in the future. I think she is so elegant for her age and that she is sophisticated enough to pull it off. Really, the Eteri girls need to look over their shoulders. Samodelkina could be the break out of the next generation. She's solid and not all flash. My money is on her winning in Seniors next season over Maiia, DariaU, and even Kamila if she's not perfect. Or she could be disappointing like this jgp season (even though I was impressed and proud of her performances, I mean ice is slippery you are bound to fall sometimes....). She really is a cut above. Almost in my mind as good as Sofia Akatieva but she's my hope/pick for the future.

I do think that Daria Sadkova could also be a standout amongst the 13 y/o group, so it seemed strange that they didn't bend over backwards to get her out there on the jgp. She might have been injured, but to lose the entire season? I just hope she seriously isn't injured because she is definitely someone who will stand out in the future. I am very disappointed in her programs this year, so disappointed. She got yet another Eteri special of "Unchained Melody" following a long line of succession: Lipnitskaia to Medvedeyeva to Zagitova to Khromykh and now Sadkova. Enough already... lol

Reportedly Kostornaia has changed her programs. It's now "New York, New York" for the SP, and "Lovely" by Billie Eilish (again) for the FP.

Potentials we haven't seen yet that might show up at the last two stages.

Tsibinova, Frolova, Konstantinova, Shulskaya, Sultanmagomedova.

Konstantinova just switched federation from Saint P to Moscow. She has said her goal this year was nationals.

The others, I don't know, they can be injured, have resigned, or working on a country switch.

There is also Zinina who is 1st Alternate for JGPF. She can also show up.

For sure Samodelkina will show up one more time.

And considering who has yet to skate in the Russian series it really is over for her this season. Too bad....

I'm happy for her. I personally liked her SP and thought she just needed to sell it. She was obviously uninspired skating to Winter. So now hopefully she can bring the PERFORMANCE again to her skates. This is a good step forward I think. (I hope. I'm not wild about the idea of NYNY...). This could mean that Eteri is done with her and she's on her own... hopefully Alyona will be her old self this week and medal. I'm hoping for the medals to be Valieva, Kostornaia, and Liu, and I just have a feeling Liu could sneak in for higher. Maybe not gold, but I think she has the performances in her.

I wish Kostornaia would stop changing programs all the time. I feel it just leads to none of the programs really developing as they otherwise might, given time. She has promise artistically, but the programs just don't live it up to it, because they're either bad to start with or they're just not given enough chance to breathe.

The Billie Eilish LP is utterly forgettable and definitely not something that will help her versus her Russian competitors IMO. And I'm sorry but "New York, New York" seems a bizarre choice. :cautious:

I wish they would only count the results of those who are trying to qualify for nationals, like Nebelhorn.
IKR? It's like Alysa skating at Regionals and Sectionals (well, like it used to be) and leaving a different person home both times. The top scorers who are trying to qualify should be the ones getting points. Don't have the top skaters already earmarked for Nationals the position to take away the hopefuls' chances.

This is her team's doing and that's just horrible. How is she meant to have a good showing at Skate Canada with programs that are two weeks old? Not to mention she had 6 programs last season (two with Eteri before leaving, four with Plushenko) and now 4 with Eteri again - that's 10 programs in a little over a season. I'm not one to say they are sabotaging her but it's feeling more and more like they are sabotaging her.

Agree. This just feels like an act of desperation to me. She shouldn't focus on changing her programs now, she NEEDS to focus on her tech that isn't there atm.

What makes you think it wasn't her idea?
