Royalty Thread #8.....A Pregnant Pause

Is that speculation from the same people who speculated that she was already pregnant at the time of her wedding?

IDK but I saw it twice on sites that I wouldn't have called tabloids (but now I do). FWIW my best friend from HS was/is about 5'1" & 90 pounds - I saw her when she was 8 mos pregnant & she was just a little fat around the middle. She had to tell me that she was pregnant. So the fact that Meghan's face & arms aren't fat is not telling. But even if it was true, it wouldn't be anyone's business anyway. People with fertility issues aren't required to share their struggles with the world.

Lottie is the common nickname for Charlotte so I don't know why those articles made it appear that it's so unheard of. But it is cute.

ETA: now the speculation is that Meghan is faking her pregnancy because her face isn't fat. The poor girl can't catch a break.

Are the articles referencing Lottie American based? If so I can understand why they may think it is unheard as Charlotte isn't that common a name in the US.

As to the comments re Meghan they remind me of the nasty comments about Kate using a surrogate as she looked too well after giving birth apparently. Neither woman can catch a break to be honest with a certain subset of trolls out there in the vastness of the internet.

My "Lotte" is a diminutive for my Norwegian grandmother's name: Bergliot.

I never knew her.
She died when I was 27 days old; and still in the incubator.

I think "Charlotte" is actually pretty common here. It's anecdotal, but I've known quite a few Charlottes. But I don't know how common the nickname "Lottie" is. I tend to hear "Char" or "Charlie" more often.

But "Lottie" is very cute!

Probably - I lived in NYC for 22 years and didn't know a single Charlotte - it is what it is. But as others have said Lottie is a common shortening of Charlotte - especially here in the UK - so why the magazines have decided it is uncommon is just weird really.

Charlotte's certainly not uncommon in Canada. But I've only known or heard of one who used Lottie as a nickname, the rest were Char or Charlie.

I'm sorry, what? Have they taken a look at that belly?

Agreed - Meghan is one of those women who doesn't look pregnant from behind as she is carrying it all up front. But unless she has a beach ball shoved up her dresses she is most definitely pregnant!!

Its one of the top 10 baby names in the US, so it's quite common.

I had four English aunts who were sisters. Hattie, Lottie, Minnie and Bessie. Thank goodness I wasn't given any of their names, but my poor mother got Minnie and dropped it as soon as she was an adult.

I played bridge with a Lottie for years. Her full name was Charlotte so I guess that's why I didn't think it was all that uncommon.

I am glad someone mentioned this. Meghan is quite huge for a first pregnancy. I know all are different....but still...

Prince Oscar just turned three.

This is from last month, but too cute not to share: nobody is more stylish than Monaco's royal twins.

British Royal family to be more proactive is blocking and reporting social media trolls and abuse as it has been noted that there is a rise in trolling aimed at the Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex. I would add in that the Duchess of Cornwall gets her fair share of abuse online as well:

Royal Family to block or report social media trolls
Leave Camilla alone :mitchell:

(obviously none of them deserve any kind of online or offline abuse)

How sad that this is necessary.

Have you not seen the fake belly to cover for the surrogate rumors?

People are ridiculous.

(I'll add that all the Charlotte's I know are "Charlie's", but I've heard of Lottie before. It's cute.)

I agree with Camilla - she really does a lot of good stuff with the minimum of fuss. I will admit that when she is referenced on the Royal Families Facebook page you get a fair amount of trolling but more and more people are stepping up and defending her which is nice to see.

And those are all 3 cute royal kiddies - the Monaco twins look adorable in their leather jackets and sun glasses!!

Nope. Are they giving a reason why anyone would want to do this to begin with?

Presumably because to some people everything Meghan does is the wrong thing to do.
(I mean- I think she's made a lot of missteps, but give the girl a break...)

I think some of it stems from the contract she apparently had in her first marriage that dealt a lot with body image in the event of pregnancy- she would not want to be pregnant because she didn't (at that time, assuming this is even a real document) want to deal with the body changes that come with it. People are also skeptical of how quickly she conceived given her age. (I'm her age too and currently pregnant- not everyone nearing 40 has trouble conceiving.)

Mostly just that people on the internet are insane, I assume.

^And what happens after she gives birth? Was it a closed adoption that no one knows about or did they have a surrogate or stole a baby? ;)

I think the rumors are a surrogate.

But apparently one the BRF trusts so highly they are going along with this? It's insanity. There is no way she'd ever be using a surrogate and a fake bump to pass it off. The blackmail possibilities!

Skittl1321 - not sure I understand what you are alluding to. But, I do know this. My son in law is an attorney for a group that handles re-insurance for actors. And, yes, they do have contracts that Actors sign to not get pregnant, gain 1,000 lbs, cut their long, long hair, etc. The contracts are negotiated. Don't know what Meghan's deal was during Suits, but I assume it was standard for her role, and her show.
