Ross Miner Out Of Olympic Team (OFFICIAL)

See, I just can't with this argument. Not when some people have been trying to claim that Jason doesn't "have" the triple Axel because he sometimes URs it. Vincent doesn't just sometimes UR the quads, he's perpetually URing quads. Literally one quad today was called around and that had an iffy landing. The other four were all < or <<. He is not in the same jump league as Chen at all. And it's not like today was an unusual outlier - he's been having rotation issues all season. Maybe the message from the USFS should be "go clean up your landings and then we'll talk."

It is possible that Ross has been busting his b**lls all year in a last ditch effort to make it in his last yr. He may be training more on and off the ice like never before.(takes megabucks to do this) If this is the case he may be able to pull this kind of performance off through international season. Don't name the team yet...send Zhou, Rippon and Ross to 4 continents for a skate-off and see who had the one night miracle/disaster. Then fill out the world's and Olympic team accordingly.

From articles by insiders, Zaccardi of NBC Sports and Brennen of USA Today, it seems Ross is likely out. Poor guy.

I think Ross knew this was a possibility. In the youtube rink side reactions about how great his program felt- he says something like "whatever happens, I'l remember that" (badly paraphrased)

The skaters clearly knew that the selection criteria would be applied. Four years ago, I think maybe they knew it existed, but didn't think it would be anything but the podium so it was a surprise.

Polina places fourth with at JGPF with total TES that was higher than most of the senior US ladies. I think her scores over the next two years which were higher than Nagasus backed up sending her.

The problem I have with body of work is it can be used to hold down younger skaters.

I think it should only be used for legit contenders.

If I'm not mistaken though, didn't Polina bomb her FS at JGPF that year?

How many times must it be posted? There is not enough time for 4CC's.

So Nats mean nothing now? I don’t think it’s justified sending Adam over Ross. I always thought the body of work thing was about if someone really had a bad night but was phenomenal otherwise ir Nathan had a rough outing, he would still be selected. And Ashley deserved to go in 2014. But ugh.

I’m not even a Ross Uber. This just makes me upset for him.

Yes, this is my opinion as well. Rippon's "body of work" is better than Miner's but still mediocre.

I'm genuinely surprised by this. I thought no way they knock Miner off the team after coming in second.

Not that I disagree, I just really really didn't expect them to do it.

Agreed. Especially kicking off a silver medalist (not even the bronze medalist like they did with Ashley) at the Olympic trials.

How does nationals mean nothing now? If Miner hadn't medalled I don't think his name would have even been mentioned. So nationals gets you in the mix but it's not the sole decisive factor.
Next time, just announce the three byes to the Olympics before Nationals. What a farce.
If that were the case, Brown would be on the team.

Nationals is the be all and end all :: team selection as 6.0 :: judging system = outdated.
