Alert is the best word. :cheer2:

:cheer2::cheer2:Such super news. Glad the surgery went well, and hope that the recovery from now on is a much smoother path. Like so many others, I've been following this thread with a higher priority than all those that deal with mere skating, so much appreciating the updates from pat c and especially Gerry - and reminded once again of what a community FSU is, in spite of our geographical spread and people's different tastes in skaters.

Continued thoughts and prayers for Lee, @Gerry, the family, and the incredible staff.

May that rollercoaster only go in an upward direction from here on!

Lee's surgery yesterday went well; the doctors are all happy with her clinical presentation, and say it will be a few days before all of the fluids find equilibrium. Last night, she rested, woke up responsive every time, and her nurse reported that she had a great night, with the other ICU nurses stopping by to check on her.

This morning... I walked in and Lee was already awake, bright, responsive... smiled at me with her eyes and mouth.

So far, today has been pretty eventful; they plugged her trache for a trial... she is now breathing through her nose and mouth. She hadn't started speaking yet, but I'm sure that will come... they just wheeled her down to CT scan, and for the first time in 3 weeks, unhooked her from everything... no monitors, no IV, no breathing support, no BP cuff...

The charge nurse came and gave me a hug, said "she's our miracle girl"...

Thanks to everyone for the prayers and support. This has been a perilous journey, one full of ups and downs both epic and heartbreaking; we are both thankful that you have been with us to this point, and hopeful that we will experience smoother seas from here on. Lee's care - by all concerned - has been flawless and exemplary. We cannot thank everyone enough.

More to come...

Just saw this fantastic news! So happy that Lee is awake and alert! So grateful for the doctors and nurses that were led by God's hands. Just so awesome how FSUers come together in prayer and well-wishes for others here. What a wonderful miracle for Lee! <3
