Rather than cards or flowers, I was asked for a donation address for the U of A:

So... it's valentine's day, and I spent the morning with mine. Waiting for transport to take her for a CT scan.
The night before, her temperature spiked, her heart rate went stupidly high, blood pressure dropped, and it took a frantic hour, IV fluids, antipyretics and a dose of BSA to get everything normalized. Docs figured it looked like an infection, but couldn't be sure where... not respiratory, not epidermal, maybe a leak (colitis), sepsis (colitis), her IVC filter... so she needed a CT.
But this morning, everything seemed fine. She sat in her wheelchair in the sun, let the physio guys get her up and walking, and told me to 'go to work... I'll be fine'.
Last 2 times she said that, I went away to work and in a day or two, got a call from the hospital to rush home, so you can understand my reluctance to believe her.
But she insisted, the nurse promised to call me with the CT results, and so I drove 4 hours south to where I'm working, checked into a hotel, wrapped myself around a burger, did paperwork for a few hours and was just contemplating going to bed when my cell rang.
Hospital calling. Lee was having all the same issues, they were going to stabilize and transport, back to the U of A where all the Star Trek equipment and specialists live.
So starting at 11 pm, I drove all the way here again. Arrived at 3:30 am, and now we sit in Emergency while the Docs do tests to try and isolate the problem.
My money is on the Colitis. This damn thing is turning out to be as much a problem as the Hemorrhage.
Anyway, that's the latest... she is stable, comfortable, and sleeping. The Docs are waiting on test results. I'm sitting here, pondering things. At 4:40 am. After driving across half the province. Twice.
The big lesson here is that if Lee ever again tells me to 'just go, I'll be fine'...
