According to CNN he died from C19! May he Rest In Peace. Truly a great man.
How sad. He was a great man. What a loss, and to C19... very sad.

I have a funny story with Colin Powell. My dad used to be very politically active, was a former mayor of our small town, and he wrote a politically themed book in the 90s (He published it himself, only 5000 copies). WELL...... my Dad was in DC/VA and he went up to Colin Powell's front door, and he answered it, and my Dad introduced himself and said he was a huge supporter and HERE'S MY BOOK!!! (I know I'm crazy, but I know where I got it from! lol). Colin was very nice about it and accepted it, and even wrote my Dad a thank you note!!! But if I was Colin, I'd be wondering how this JoePublicCitizen was able to access my home, since I think he was living in a gated community, but I could be wrong. (I can totally envision my Dad trying to sneak past security/climb a gate, etc!!!! lol). Anyway, that's the family "Colin Powell" story! lol

A great loss.
Scary thought, but I had initially touted him for the Democratic presidential nomination. I didn't realize he had Multiple Myeloma though. Now I understand why he didn't throw his name into the ring last year. I can't imagine the chaos if he had been President.

Saw the headline earlier but didn't have the time to read the rest.

Gen. Powell was a great man. It is a big loss for our country, especially at this difficult time.

May he Rest In Peace.

I think his legacy was (rightfully) tarnished by being a big proponent for the invasion of Iraq in 2003.

He was a great leader IMHO. Trump could not even hold a candle to him. No comparison.

The issue re Iraq, although I am certainly not an expert, was that he received poor security information which led to a poor strategic decision

He knowingly went to UN with bad info. He knew it was weak. He perused it anyway. He helped kill over 4,000 American servicemen

Colin Powell also covered up as well as facilitated war crimes in Vietnam including the My Lai Massacre.

Yeah, I'm not willing to give him a pass and say he was a great person. I still appreciate that he said he was wrong about Iraq because that changes the public discourse. But he still has a lot to answer for.
