Harry Belafonte died of a heart attack at age 96.

What I didn't know was that he was politically active, as a civil rights activist who worked with MLK.

He was the first black artist to win a Tony (Chris Hayes reported on msnbc).

In his honor here are some of his famous songs.

Harry Belafonte has died. A good entertainer but a great crusader for civil rights: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/04/25/arts/music/harry-belafonte-dead.html
I was just coming to post this sad news too - CBC News link: https://www.cbc.ca/news/entertainment/obit-harry-belafonte-1.6821464
Singer and civil rights activist Harry Belafonte has died at the age of 96. In 1997, 60 Minutes' Ed Bradley spoke with Belafonte about his life and wide-ranging career.

I found out about Mr. Belafonteā€™s activism from reading a Sydney Poitier biography, so I moved to reading his My Song: A Memoir. Fascinating person, wonderful entertainer.

Just the little bit of singing from his heart you posted @Dobre made me cry.

Happy he had a long life.
