Preparations

Has anyone found the China cup designations on Peabody. yet?
They're all there - have been available since Monday. I found them scrolling through the Live/Upcoming in the Sports section.

Am I correct that we only have 2 men slated for Skate America? Anyone know why we don't have a 3rd guy listed??
I think the speculation was that it had something to do with SA & GPdF swapping dates at the last second and Ilia wanting to have early GPs so some swap was made to move Ilia from SA to GPdF. Idk if it's true.

I hope most of the Euro/Asian training skaters are going to try to fly in via Canada. US regional flights are a shitshow.
Even flying in via Canada would require a US regional flight from either Montreal or Toronto unless they're willing to drive a few hours for the final leg of the trip. They could do the same flying into Boston or NYC and only have to deal with customs at the airport rather than twice (once at the Canadian airport and then again at the US-Canadian border).

The weather forecast is only validating USFS’ stupidity in this location choice. Good luck to everyone plowing their way through the snow!
You made me think there is a major blizzard incoming, so I checked out the forecast.

This would be a major storm alert in my neck of the woods (western PNW) or in the Southeast, but it doesn't look like they're expecting more than 4" of snowfall between now and Friday - less than an inch Monday & Friday and approximately 1" per day Tuesday through Thursday, which is nothing for the Northeast/New England. The high temperatures Wed & Thursday are forecast to JUST climb above freezing which may make roads & walkways icy, but it shouldn't be too bad.

Yeah, this forecast doesn't look to me like anyone is going to be plowing their way through the snow.
Yeah.

Weather report on the news right now and apparently the major storm alert is for the Midwest around Chicago, northern Indiana and southwestern Michigan. Upstate NY is expecting anywhere from 1-12" depending on how close to Lakes Erie and Ontario you are (lake effect snowfall at its best) - the further east you get, closer to Lake Placid, the lower the snowfall. No way would I be flying into Toronto and driving across upstate NY through Buffalo and Rochester to get to LP for SkAm. Driving from Montreal would probably be okay as it looks like the snowfall in Quebec and northern NY is expected to be 1-5" which is pretty mundane for that region.

Weather Channel said there would be a change in wind direction for the NE (south wind) and it would mitigate some of the lake effect snow. Here's hoping everyone has a safe trip! Lake Placid is way too far for me and besides, my finances are stretched thin as can be. It's Peacock for me!

Sounds like all the crappy weather will be just above our entire drive to LP this week so that's good news for me. I'm already planning out my layering of clothing to prepare for the cold weather up there. Thankfully Cincy decided to have some snow tonight and tomorrow so I won't be totally shocked by the cold when I get there, LOL
