I was away for about 7 weeks. I had no access to my devices from Oct 16 to Dec 1. I returned home on Dec 1.

The morning of Dec 2 I received a couple of emails asking if a certain log in (from NM and VA, and today from NY) was from me. I answered No.

After that I was unable to log into my facebook. I tried receiving codes by email and txt. Never received those.

My facebook friends are thinking that i am back and am trying to sell tickets to concerts and ballgames. Three facebook groups welcomed me to their groups. I would have never joined those groups. The hackers had.

I can't log into fb to tell those on fb that it's not me posting. I told a few friends by txt and emails what is going on. They sent me facebook links to recover my account from hackers and impersonators. When I tried that, I saw a block on me by facebook. I tried everything to recover the account but I cannot, so I cannot tell fb that my account is hacked and there are impersonators.

I even tried to create a new fb account using a different email. FB is freezing after I click on their captcha, then it tells me it's expired. I was supposed to enter my info - email/phone, etc. but I don't see those options anywhere.

I even contacted a consumer protection button on our local tv station's webite called On your side. I had conversation with a bot, then I was told to talk to an expert. They wanted my credit card number. There is no way I was going to give them unlimited access to my credit card. They may not even be able to solve the problem.

I don't know what to do at this point. I can live without facebook, but it is the only way for me to get in touch with the outside world. I email or txt some friends sometime, but facebook was very convenient to reach a lot of them.

Any ideas?

something similar happened to me in September. they have no customer service. I was able to change my password and then I could only appeal the removal of the links and those appeals were denied. there is no drop down to say they arent my links I was hacked. I was able to eventually get back into messenger and then have a limited access to fb and now I have most access (knock wood) but it took over a month. it's very frustrating.

if you can follow some of the appeal links, they did give me the opportunity to make a sort of proof of life video that upgraded me from no account to banned for a year then a month. then their ban is up software didnt seem to work so it was another two weeks. good luck.

also some of the links worked better on a desk top, some on a phone

Sounds like a nightmare.

I figured out how the hack happened. I should not have replied the email that appeared to have come from Facebook.

Lesson learned.

We have a friend and a nephew who got "advice" from FB to open new account and tell friends and family to use that new account.

On the other hand, FB would not delete my dad's account without a death certificate and proof my brother was executor of his affairs.
