I would have loved to see her there, but we only got to see her at Skate Canada and that's understandable : Regina wasn't too far away by plane from Montreal but Japan, China, France... and they have a daughter too ! They are already so busy with too many teams too handle (I think they do that fantastically though) but she's probably going to GPF so one trip to Japan is enough...
Oh, absolutely. I can't believe I forgot GPF and was immediately thinking of the Europeans... anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing her there. :)

One last note to commentators - I love the Spanish ladies from Teledeporte (tdp). Especially their reactions when they're blown away by P/C as we are. :D

Yes I wish I could speak Spanish. It's close enough to French for me to get the gist of it. Romain has been very busy travelling. I think he was present at every events but Skate Canada. Still look young and stylish while doing it. I want his recipe to not show the jetlag effect. I do like seeing the three of them like good old times. But I'm sure she'll come to GPF. They might have three teams.

The livestream was not the best and I can´t wait to see the FD in better quality but WOW where they GOOD!!!!!!!!! I´m really obsessed with heir skating. LOVE LOVE LOVE them! The FD was even more fluid as in China. The new WR is SO deserved!

I feel very sorry that P/C won on home ice with WR and they get these as medals https://twitter.com/fsjukebox/status/931920177687597056

Like how do they deal with the disaster that is their own federation?
I need a GIF of Gabi raising the star though :rofl:

They were simply great, wish I could've seen them live. I thought they had all levels but no, still room to grow ! How good will it look in 3 months ?

Gaby is just a hoot, she cracks me up so much, so much personality and it transpires in the SD, she's just fun. But I cannot forgive that cheap organization, she nearly fell getting on the rostrum, now are you crazy to nearly injure your only Oly hope in figure Skating :angryfire The FD, I just don't know what to say anymore, I came back to skating because of them and they just keep giving. Charlie was spot on, they skate with honesty, they put themselves out there, completely, and that's why it connects on another level with audiences around the world. Chapeau bas Gaby et Guillaume.

The midline step sequence is still level 3 so I guess they could improve on that still... somehow... hahaha.
I don't think they were going to get level4 everywhere anyway, either for them or V/M (or anyone alse) at least before de GPF (where you need all your marks to differenciate yourself from others), otherwise it's too close to the ceilling.

I agree with those who think Ben's commentary is more on point, concise and just plain interesting, but here I think Charlie put his finger on why I just adore this team. Their quality of direct, open-hearted performing of (often) profound material is just breathtaking. It's a quality I cherish in all performers.

That said, I can see how exquisite their performance of the FD is and I'm so happy that they're scoring so well, but I'm still wishing for more choreographic interest, more along the lines of what MFD did for their Mozart FD (like those cool, low lifts). The music is calling out for something more, IMO. And I'm still finding the third spin in the fast section a let-down choreographically (although I gather the first "spin" is actually considered a stationary lift, is that correct?)

I also agree with Ben A. that their SD could stand some build up of energy and interest in the last fast section.

Is there any chance they might add more material at this point in such an important season? Or is it too late (and possibly foolish?) to mess with programs that are scoring so well?

Man this team is delicious!!!!!!

Um... I was a bit put off by Charlie's comment and then i come to this thread and see it already being discussed.... wow.

Its a Latin dance.... Charlie doesn't half of the za-za-za that Cizeron has (not even 1%) so I wondered if thats why he made that comment. AND ITS A LATIN Dance, I have always noticed the man (if they have swag kinda like Mark B does/did on DWTS) then show of the moves. And this is in no way "taking away from the lady." BARF, Charlie.

Anywhooo I just thought it was strange when Charlie said that because my first thought bubble when I heard him was "You are way too white to pull off what Cizeron just did, Charles.

are those star things supposed to be the medals??????
I know, such a joke really. Anyway, here is the CBC comments plus a small analysis from Carole Lane and her earth/fire vs wind/water theory

Also a quick article in l'equipe a french sport magazine where they state they don't try to send a message to anyone but try to focus on each performance and looking at the scores to check they are on the right track, nothingelse. They say they feel ready for the GPF but still have a lot to work on. They say they learnt a lot from their mistakes and feel more at ease with their programs this year. And of course, skating in front of a home crowd created a special connexion to the public and added meaning to their performance.

And an article in Golden Skate.

Yes, his comments on the FD were perfect, especially these sentences about them being them even though it must be extremely hard as others expect something from you or criticize you for not changing; not doing one thing this year and then something different the next year.
I had to laugh how cleverly he avoided the question, it was just before the scores were announced, which teams will be going for gold; P/C or V/M. Wisely done. :D

I agree that the Mozart lifts were superb. And something could be a bit changed in MS. I think we couldn't have expected more changes as they had only one week to practice after the COC to the competition in France. Now, however, they have like 2-3 weeks? So, they'll definitely keep polishing the programs + there's a chance they might add something new or alter it for something else. :)

Quick translation: They say they hardly had time to work after CoC, just a week so they build their performance on the confidence booster that was the CoC win and the fact this competition was in France.
They do mention the judges appreciate their SD music and it is also a way to attract a younger audience.
They enjoy the path to the Olympics and try not to focus only on the results even though they have to deal with more media attention and so more pressure.
They finally say they are different yet complementary, not sharing the same life experiences off the ice but when on it, it all comes together to create this symbiosis.

Finally, short interview in French post competition https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzgbbgQ3vfI Not much said, but it's always a pleasure to hear them talk. They just said this program is special to them as they've been wanted to go back to a classical piece of music for a couple of years now.

Thank you so much @coctaffy for the translation. Unfortunatelly I don´t understand french and so I´m grateful when someone translate what they say :-)
I also think they compliment each other perfectly! Guillaume wouldn´t be able to skate that way with another partner. It´s Gabby who makes it happen I think. She gives him the freedom and yet I think they skate as one. In some parts of the program it´s more Guillaume that shines (I think my favourite part of the FD is right after the last spin when he makes some extra spin under her arm) but she is equaly good I think. I´m sorry that my English is also not good, it´s difficult for me to explain what I mean :( On the ice they skate as one. In the SD Gabby shine a bit more, in the FD Guillaume. I love that :-)

Was Milan on P/C schedule? I know it's probably contingent on the Olympics result.... I want to get a ticket and will be so disappointed if they won't make it :(
