I like the dance but the music is the worst from the Montreal camp that i’ve heard. It’s better suited for a team like Stepannova/Bukin’s if anyone. Not theirs.I get that Dubreuil/Lauzon/Haguenauer don’t like traditional concepts or, put another way, they are up to the challenge of taking a piece of music or somthethign traditionally done one way and doing it another way. I’m all for this and if it were for a lesser team, I would be on board. Not Papadakis and Cizeron. Some said that the Latch was beneath Virtue Moir. I did not agree. If this is how they felt though, i get it. I also hate what Cizeron is wearing. It looks like when i was younger and cut the sleeves off of my black t shirts because i was pumping iron... smh. I’m not crazy about him being sleeveless. Lets face it, skaters have somewhat toned bodies but not buff ones. Plus, it’s hardly a thoughtful concept. Maybe an actual costume is coming? The Underarmor compression shirt’s gotta go. I hope another music edit is coming, unlike what Madison and Zack went through with hip hop. Marie- France forced her idea on that damn music this time.
While i am not crazy about the music, I DO like the choreography. Gabby, like with the Lindy Hop looks like she is having the time of her life. Guillaume looks like someone told him “ hey, your expression in the Short Dance last year sucked and you looked like you would have rather been anywhere else. Perk up kiddo” lol. He wasn’t thrilled but he put forth an effort. Overall, Gabby’s turning ability, the arms in the pattern dance, the closeness during their much improved Twizzles into the highlight hold is great. I had a question about how the step sequence would score since it was over in a flash and was actually dancing. Christopher Dean must have had a hard time sleeping from being excited to work with skaters without limits. I do wish he worked with Tessa and Scott but that’s not what this thread is for LOL.
All in all, this was a good showing for them. Their take on it reflects what i would guess their relationship is like. Respectful but playful. They definitely seem to have made a concerted effort to do this well from the get go. Last thing; Gabby reminds me of Sophie Moniotte BIG TIME this year. I always thought it but today... i mean... twinning
