Nathan Chen won his first ISU Grand Prix title at the Rostelecom Cup in Moscow, beating reigning Olympic and world champion Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan by over three points. The 2017 U.S. champion was the only skater to break 100 points in the short program, landing a pair of quads to create a strong lead going into the free skate. Chen went on to land four quads in the free skate, scoring a season-best 193.25 points and finishing with a combined score of 293.79. The victory marked Chen’s third Grand Prix medal over the last two seasons.

I'm torn about the billowing sleeves he currently wears: In his spins, they create illusions but you also miss a lot of the nuanced arm movements during the LP because they hide his arms.

I really like what Nathan has been wearing for the SP. I think it fits him and fits the program. I think he could use something different for the FS. But I don’t think Vera Wang is the way I would go.

So, did he ever really order any costumes this season before this? At least we'll something new at Nationals.

I'm glad Nathan is getting a new costume. At GPF I noticed a sweat patch under his arms before the start. It's totally natural and logical but I've never seen it in other costumes, which suggests that nearly all costumes already take this issue into consideration.

Am I the only one who likes his Vera Wang costumes? I think he looks amazing.

Congratulations to Nathan on officially making his first Olympic Team (as if there was question)! He was amazing last night! His best FS of the season even with being sick and using watered down content. His ability to compete continues to be so impressive. I can’t wait to see what he can do in Pyeongchang!!

I like the new short program costume but I preferred his original costume and think it fit the program better. I don’t think the new FS costume fits the program at all and the zipper down the back is distracting.

Vera or Nathan has given an explanation about the costumes? I think they do not fit at all with the programs but I'm sure there was a lot of thought put into creating them.

Definitely a lot of thought went into creating them. He said the SP costume is supposed to be aerodynamic but that is all I have heard. Perhaps others have heard more?
