Just wanted to say, SUCCESS at last! Found Nathan's cereal box at Targets! (I'm in Orlando) at the Millenia Mall!! When I spotted the boxes I almost did a Snoopy dance LOL!! FINALLY! YAY!! :cheer::cheer2:I think I'd visited most grocery stores in the Orlando area (even other Targets!) but only the one on Millenia has them (so far).

I've also got the Shibs Minute Maid juice box, and I'm ordering Nathan's Coke bottle!

P.S. I bought two Nathan cereal boxes. :D

Now I can sit back and relax! No matter what comes, I am enjoying these Olympics!! :summer:

Well, Nathan is probably feeling disappointed right now but I think he'll be able to shrug it off and treat this outing as a beneficial dress rehearsal, like Scott Hamilton said it was (in that icenetwork article):
"When I competed my Olympic short, my adrenaline was through the roof. I was a mess," he said. "The team event takes a little of that away; it's kind of a dress rehearsal. If I had gotten to do a short program in the team event, it would have been a lot easier."

I hope if Chen does the short they use Rippon and not Zhou in the long. He deserves it, especialy being an openly gay athlete at the Games and making a stand for gay rights. So brave, so talented, really deserves to compete in team event over zhou.

Awesome, I hope he redeems his really bad skate at Nationals with a really great skate that secures the U.S a medal! Go Adam!
 
I know Nathan must be disappointed, but I hope he can brush off feeling like he let the team down. He did his part for team USA: he landed a quad flip in combination, and after popping the second quad still went after the triple axel. Even with an underrotation and fall, going for it was probably the difference between 4th place and below 8th, so he saved the US a lot of points there. He fought hard even when things were going wrong and he should give himself some credit for that.

I think he has a good head on his shoulders, so he and Raf will think about what went wrong from a constructive standpoint and make sure he’ll be completely ready for the individual event. Hopefully the nerves have been exorcised with this SP!

I also hope he firmly ignores NBC for the next week :yikes:
 
Chen beat Kolyada by 3 spots in the SP which in fact is probably more than was thought likely. I guess there is some who had Chen winning the short and Kolyada 4th behind Chen, Uno, and Chan, but there are probably many who had Chen 2nd in the short and Kolyada 3rd, and them only 1 spot apart. So in fact he did more damage to Russia than anticipated. All thanks to Kolyada's awful meltdown, but that is aside the point, when all is said he more than did the job to give the U.S a shot at silver.
 
Let's not kid ourselves, guys ... that was a pretty rough SP. No two ways about it. Nathan was obviously nervous, tight. He had a deer in headlights look going on there for a moment. Hopefully, he'll pull it together for the individual event. My heart broke for him today. Plus, I was so nervous and had a feeling this would happen. The buildup has been enormous, overkill, tbh, and he's only human. Sometimes, it is better to be under the radar.

In no way am I arguing that was even a decent SP. It wasn’t. But even the worst moments can have silver linings. The silver lining here is that he still did enough to beat Kolyada by 4 spots and got the US 7 points for the team total. And that he hopefully has gotten the worst of the nerves out of his system here and that the massive Olympic hype around him will be a bit deflated now going into the individual event. The media really needs to back down a little.

Here’s to hoping this disappointment fires him up for the IE. Better to skate angry than nervous or scared.
 
That was pretty tough to watch and was not what I expected. The good thing is he did help his team. Hopefully he has gotten all of the nerves out of his system now and can come back determined and a little angry for the individual competition. I would really like to see the 4Lz back too.
 
Honestly this is probably great for Chen. He has his bad skate out of the way now, far better now than the individual. Especialy with how the mens event wound up, which as noted is probably better vs Russia than expected inspite of it, worse vs Canada but the U.S was never going to challenge Canada in the Team Event anyway.
 
I hope Nathan shakes this off, refocuses and skates the best programs of his life in the IE! I also hope he gets away a bit from the media - the hype has been insane! And Nathan is just a kid! An 18 year old (yes to me that's a kid!). Olympic pressure and on top of that such huge expectations! I'm glad he went right back to practice after his Team SP. I wish the press would back away some and give him some time to focus on his game!

And to add to all the positives posted above (and yes the reality that it was a rough SP for Nathan - he's human after all!), Nathan made history! He performed the first Quad flip in Olympic history and in combo too!

Both Nathan and Patrick admit that the early morning sessions, which neither are used to, might have affected their respective jumps. Who can blame them? Most of the top men in the Team event had at least one major mistake! This makes me REALLY wish the skaters had gone a week early and gotten used to the early morning calls sooner!

Truth be told I am not sure if he'll get a gold medal. Other competitors seem to be smarter about competing.
He's young and he'll learn to compete better yet.

If you medal in the Individual Event that will just be chocolate mousse with whipped cream on top!! You have had my heart since you were just a tiny thing skating to your enchanting "Peter and the Wolf" program! My heart is full and I could not be prouder than if you were my own son!

Oh good! I hope Nathan has put the Team SP behind him and will fight for that Olympic medal! I know he wants gold (what skater doesn't?) but if it doesn't happen I just want him to win an Olympic medal of any color in the Men's event.

I was bummed that Nathan wasn't with his teammates on the Today show. They didn't even mention his name when the team was introduced as the Team Olympic Bronze medallists. Does anyone know why he wasn't there? It sort of worried me a bit.
 
I wondered that too. They also just had a press conference with the other 2 American men and he was not there. Maybe he is not talking to the media anymore until after he competes?

Ice Network just cleared it up! They said he's fine but his schedule changed so he couldn't make it with his teammates!

Thank goodness, my heart can't take too much more after it nearly burst with pride and joy for the U.S. Team yesterday! :swoon:
