I just found this article in the NY Post and took exception as to how the author characterized Natha and statement of facts. So, I tweeted to her and let her know:

Yeah, the tone of the article was weird, like Nathan was a ball of nerves from covid-anxiety during his short and the beginning of his free skate.

Like many American Champions....

This is a great article which tells us some new info about Nathan's mom also working for Hertz Rent-a-Car and having to stop mid-way to sleep a little when driving Nathan on their long road trips to southern California. This still makes no mention of Nathan's dad though, giving off the impression that Hetty Wang was a single mom doing all the work.

I know. Nathan may be the youngest, but some of his siblings still were kids when Nathan and his mom moved to California. Dad must have been doing a lot with the other kids as well as with finances. I often wonder how a skater's siblings feel when so much of a parent's finances, time, and attention go to the skater.

I remember Nathan mentioning in an interview (years ago) that his Dad was familiar with the computations and would help him maximize his base value. Ppl also mentioned his volunteer work with the Salt Lake FSC when adult nationals were held there.

While a lot of the finances, time and attention went to Nathan, to add context, I think it would be more fair to mention that the other siblings are also pretty successful. Such as this tweet from bestselling author/biographer Walter Isaacson.

I am always interested in watching videos of Nathan from other nation's broadcasts w/ their different perspectives (CAN, Euro, Asia). I only see the NBC broadcasts on Youtube. Does anyone happen to know if there are videos of his SP / LP from other countries posted somewhere? I eventually find them much later, but sometimes for example, RUS videos go up really quick after Worlds.

All in one place, Nathan's interviews scheduled so far:

NBC 2/22/22 Tuesday Today 7:00-9:00 AM - NBC
NBC 2/22/22 Tuesday Today Third Hour 9:00-10:00 AM - NBC
NBC 2/22/22 Tuesday Tonight with Jimmy Fallon 11:30 PM - 12:30 AM - NBC
CBS 2/23/22 Wednesday CBS Mornings 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM - CBS
CBS 2/25/22 Friday The Late Late show with James Corden 12:36 - 1:38 AM - CBS

Hope that Stephen Colbert will schedule him.

Nathan is getting ready for the talk show circuit! Sad that it means he may be too busy to train for Worlds.

Nathan's gala performance. Sloppy 4T, but nice backflip.

Tuesday is packed and Wednesday morning also, but isn't James Corden in LA? I wouldn't think much of it this first week back in the States, but if it's continuing past that and on shows that aren't LA-based then yeah, probably not.

Yes, Corden is in LA. With next week pretty much shot he'd have 2 weeks to get ready for Worlds. Maybe that's enough. IDK.

According to the interview translated in the Russian ladies thread, Nathan is going to be in Sochi for the Channel one cup March 4-7. I don’t know if that is still going to happen given current events. But if it does, I don’t know if we will see him worlds. I’m really hoping he makes it there though.

Yuki said it wasn't true.

Article: At Olympic’s close, Salt Lake’s Nathan Chen helps say goodbye to the Beijing Games
“I’ve mostly accomplished all the goals that I’ve wanted to accomplish in skating,” Chen told The Salt Lake Tribune a day after his golden triumph. “And I’m already very happy and satisfied with my career. So. It’s hard to say whether or not I will want to continue going.”

To be clear, Chen has not said he plans to retire. However, after he finishes the Stars on Ice exhibition tour, he plans to return to Yale in the fall. He took two years off of school to prepare for the Olympics and he told The Salt Lake Tribune he does not plan to train while he is there.

Nathan's win was NBC's most tweeted moment.

Thanks as always for posting these! I guess one needs a subscription to Eurosport to open the 4th video? Sent the second one to Ashley Wagner who apparently didn't know that Nathan had his backflip under his belt for quite some time!

Not sure which one you mean because I double checked and all the links are correct.

It was the Eurosport video in which the composer of Caravan was mentioned. I got into the Eurosport site but it then kept processing. It could be my sticky ID software.

I’ve thought this as well. No doubt his dad was holding down the fort with some of the other siblings but he literally receives no mention or credit from….anyone. Very bizarre and a little sad.

It’s interesting his mom still lives with in California even though he’s 22 years old.

OK, I see what you mean. I was just pointing out that the tweet was from Fanfare Ciocarlia, not the video!

Favor please. Someone (Sheetz? Sylvia? someone else?) posted a link to an article/tweet/interview? with Massimo Scalli where he talked about working with Nathan between Nationals and Olympics. I have searched through 20 pages of this thread and cannot find it. It is not the article where Nathan credits Massimo. It is Massimo speaking.

If anyone knows where that is, could you please give me a heads up. Thank you.
