My wife and I are going to go to Albuquerque

Ever since I came back to the "states" after my stint in the navy, I take my wife on a trip to the big city for a fun day and night out before she starts the spring cleaning. This year, our bank account is not are big as we would of hoped, but we are hoping for fun times in the closest big city to our town in New Mexico. Albuquerque on Saturday the 24.

We are going to bring a gun and a taser for protection because of the crime and druggies in the city. I have heard it is very dangerous in the spring because that is time for the first marijuana harvests. We may buy a bulletproof vest on-line but I am still deciding. We are going to bring a camera to record or fun times. I will bring a light jacket, gray denim of course. My wife is not sure whether she will wear the skort she got for the holiday's last year, depends on the fort-cast.

In the morning we will go shopping at Walmart. I want to get a new key chain, as many issues of Mens Health that they have, ammo, kleenex, a large assorted box of Lay's chips and snacks, and a big tub of Vaseline. My wife wants perfume, makeup, a new blade, and restraints. This is a nice, big Walmart, very popular!

After that, we will have lunch at a Chinese buffett and then go to the Turquoise museum and other places in it's mall, then a place with animals or maybe the old Mexican Town, and a movie before we head back home. We will take many pictures and hope that there are not a lot of tourists who don't speak English confusing people like us from New Mexico, USA.

We will be driving our truck both there and back home.

The taser and gun plus bullet proof vest might be a bit of overkill. Unless you are going to buy some drugs, you really have nothing to worry about.

You should swing by Venezia's Pizzeria. Their pizzas literally float on air. Also stop by The Dog House. Great little hot dog joint and you can get this incredible topping that's like crystals to really zing up your night. Probably a good idea to take your gun with you if you go there, just in case. If you should get into any trouble with the local druggies while you are there, give my friend Saul a call, he can get anyone out of a jam. 505-503-4455. :p

ONE bulletproof vest?

(I take all your posts as gags anyway but I particularly liked that line. If your posts are for real I'm very sorry.)

I admit I was  at the notion of including shopping at Walmart on a vacation agenda. But I've got one just five minutes away from me, so. . .

Also was  about a gun and a taser for protection on vacation - the need for those would effectively rule out a place as a possible vacation destination for me.

IIRC, Albuquerque is quite a large city. We've visited New Mexico twice, and IIRC we drove pretty quickly through the city the first time.

I love your state! There is something so magical about the colors of the dessert, and I prefer New Mexico to Arizona because it has more of an off-the-beaten track feel.

On our first visit we spent a few days at a resort in a town called 'Truth and Consequences' - which an online quiz found to be my ideal place to live (not quite) - $100.00 a night for pretty posh accommodations, including a first-rate restaurant.

We also visited Carlsbad Caverns - well worth the long drive. And I remember driving through Roswell (where aliens have apparently visited) - trippy town!

On our second visit we went to White Sands National Monument. That was amazing - the only way I could contextualize the white blowing sand was as 'snow'. And climbing/rolling around in the dunes was so much fun. We did a tour of sorts, and it was fascinating to learn about all the plant and animal life in that dessert, and how they sustained themselves.

On that visit I was also struck by the poverty of New Mexico. When we were looking for a motel/hotel in a small town (I don't remember the name), we wanted one with a swimming pool. All the hotels/motels had swimming pools, but all of them were empty and not maintained.

Whereabouts in New Mexico do you live StasiyaGalustyanLove?

When I went to Albuquerque it was windy and there were large pieces of grit in the air, like sand, that kept blowing into my eyes even if I was wearing glasses. So I recommend you bring goggles.

 I'm surprised most of you still haven't figured out who the OP is.

Better stock up on that ammo as WalMart might be going the way of Dicks.

Then I think you should swing by the University and go through their museum. There's an excellent exhibit on evolution that should be just the thing for you and the wife.

I'd like to visit Santa Fe, NM sometime so hopefully you can provide some tips for that city too!
Santa Fe is very "artsy." Very "ethnic." It is a beautiful town, but the morality and life style choices there can be confusing. It is a good place to shop for bed spreads, though. Quilty!

I can't imagine how awful, awful, awful it would be if all places pulled a Dick's. There are already enough Dicks, my wife and I give them exactly as much support as they deserve!

Perhaps you and your wife should go to Santa Fe instead of Albuquerque this year? Mix it up a bit? Or you could go to Carlsbad and visit the caverns. I hear they are supposed to be spectacular. It might not be marijuana harvesting season there. Although I'm not sure if there is a Walmart in Carlsbad or not, so you might be disappointed.

Carlsbad is a over 250 minute drive each way! If that is a day trip, then I'm Richard freakin' Simmons! Maybe when we have a long weekend that would be a possibility. I will have to discuss it with my wife.

Right now I am heating up a salisbury steak meal and looking at the weekly walmart specials. There is some thing called "Unicorn Horn Bath Bomb" that looks very attracting.

I cannot wait to go shopping and see all the sites!

I have that horn. My husband bought me one the last time we went to Detroit to see a hockey game. My 11" x 11" Roots purse was too big to go into the arena and I had to shove all my stuff in my pockets and they threw my purse into a bin. Then a maintenance guy offered to get the purse back and at first intermission my husband went back to the concourse and slipped him a bill and the maintenance guy slipped him my purse like a drug deal and it wasn't even marihuana harvest time. The funny thing is that the maintenance guy had put my purse into a plastic Detroit Red Wings bag, and now I use that bag for my dirty laundry and restraints when we travel.

Ah well...I didn't realize it was just a day trip. I thought maybe Bonnie had earned a stay in a hotel room what with all that spring cleaning you have planned for her. I guess she will have to settle for a bath bomb. I suggest she does wear the skort to make it feel like a true day out and take a break from the pantsuits. Well, you two kids have fun and stay safe. Maybe Bonnie can put the restraints to good use when you guys get home - these ones look like they could be fun:

I am so excited about Keegan's top 10 finish and expecially his great short program that I have asked my husband to add a new cowboy hat the shopping list for our big trip to WalMart today!! And Max Aaron was so great too! Yippee!!
