Interesting post @Japanfan. I too find that Scorsese’s explorations of gangsterism and violence hold no appeal at this point.

Do you mean Gangs of New York (DiCaprio, Day Lewis, Diaz)These days, I prefer not to watch violet films about men with guns and gangsters. I doubt I'll watch a Scorsese film again (granted 'Age of Innocence' was wonderful and had an unusual focus for Scorsese). The last Scorsese I saw was 'Streets of New York' - may have the title wrong, as it was some time ago. It was just way too violent for me.
I had coverage, then it would cut to what seems like a 70s or 80s sitcom for about 10 seconds, then back to the show. Between that and Taye Diggs being kind of annoying, I gave up pretty early.Anyone else watching Critics Choice Awards? Is there an awful lot of bleeping going on or is my cable cutting out or what? The sound keeps going out (bleeping or feed screw up?), and they cut to commercial right in the middle of one guys speech. Then black screen for several minutes and seems like I've missed stuff? Just me or everyone? Veryabout this coverage.
Don't forget Missing Link won animated film at the Globes, and got good reviews despite doing poorly at the box office. If Toy Story and Frozen split the vote, it could sneak in there. So .., you guys think Frozen 2 or Toy Story 4 will win for best animated?

Going to get this in early and say Saoirse Ronan wuzrobbed of winning.![]()
Nah. She was great, but Zellweger deserves this one.![]()
This is one of those years where all the winners will be super predictable:
Joker for BP
Joaquin Phoenix for Best Actor
Renee Zellwegger for Best Actress
Brad Pitt for Best Supporting Actor
Laura Dern for Best Supporting Actress
Nah. She was great, but Zellweger deserves this one.![]()
I saw 1917 tonight. Quite brilliant. Certainly has deserved all it's nominations. Disappointed George McKay wasn't nominated for Best Actor because he did give an incredible performance.
