I know she's just kidding, but I would die if she actually decided to compete. She's in fantastic shape.

I was poor and just out of college in 1998 but probably could have done 2003 Worlds (went to Spain). I don’t regret Spain but I still wish I could have been at 1998 Nationals and 2003 Worlds.

I got up at like 3AM at my aunts place in Spain to watch Eurosport on her tiny TV. Such good memories.

Sadly I never saw her "Lyra Angelica" program live, but I will never forget the literal whole Philips Arena vibrating from the crowd reaction at the 2004 Nationals in Atlanta, and the sea of stuffies which flooded the ice after her free skate. (Fanyu level adoration! :p ) It was almost like a tremblor! I honestly believe it surpassed the reception at DC Worlds.

I was a grad student in 1998 so I didn't even consider going to Nats, even though it wasn't far from where I was living at the time (NYC) but that was before comp ticket info was readily available and discussed online, so I was kind of clueless about attending. I watched it on TV and held my breath for most of Lyra Angelica.

I did attend 2003 Worlds...I got addicted to live comps after attending 01 Nats. The atmosphere on Saturday night for the FS was insane....lower bowl mostly sold out and people screaming so loud after she finished we couldn't hear the announcer. Those were the skating glory days.....

Direct link to watch Michelle's 1998 FS in Philadelphia on January 10 (I was in the rafters on that night but the atmosphere was ELECTRIC!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okPRcajUQrM

ETA: Thank you @kwanette! :)
I was sitting in front of Nancy Kerrigan that evening. One thing among many others that were notable(not shown on TV) was the jump at the beginning of the stepwork sequence with a look of absolute joy on her face. So emotional!

Ugh, let's not taint a lovely Michelle discussion by invoking mullet man.

Michelle looks so good! In my personal alternative universe, pro competitions still exist, and she's inherited the Dorothy Hamill role of peak of pro skating in the 90s-- a woman competing in her forties showcasing gorgeous, pure skating, albeit with limited jumps.

Sigh. Back to the real world, I suppose.

In my mind, there will never be a combination of programs and performances to equal Philadelphia in 1998. Probably my all-time favorite moment in skating is a simple turn of the hands she does after the final triple toe in the free skate. Just goes to show that even the simplest movements can have a huge emotional impact.

Randomly, I remember QVC doing a live show selling Olympic merch from the arena right after the free skate. Since she's leaving Belize, I hope she shows up in Boston! I seem to remember she was there in 2016.

iirc, in 2006, Michelle said that the funniest experience was when a streaker tried to disrupt her ... at the time, it was more scary than funny, but nothing stops Michelle:
