As I said, my two most burning thoughts:
1. So glad they managed to move past the tragic flowers incident.
2. Wondering how will Tinami dig herself out of the "Medvedeva is evil" hole.

But seriously, aside from getting a bigger push from the federation, I can't see this decision being much help for Medvedeva.

Khrustalny confirmed Medvedeva's return to Tutberidze

The deputy head of the Khrustalny skating rink Eduard Aksyonov confirmed to SE that figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva returned to coach Eteri Tutberidze .

- Yes, the information has already appeared, there is no point in denying it. Evgenia returned to Tutberidze, it's true. How did it happen? You'd better ask Evgenia and Eteri Georgievna.

This is going to be epic and I have already prepared some popcorn :watch:

The thing is no one says she is leaving Orser (yet?), but we will see how it goes.
Also, he gave an interview yesterday:
Evgenia’s performance was below her level. It was so hard trying to train from such a long distance. She definitely needs her usual skating routine and so on. I honestly don't know how we can handle this. She misses training at TCC, but the planet has other plans for us at the moment

And as usual

President of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) Alexander Gorshkov told RIA Novosti that he would not comment on the information about the transition of Evgenia Medvedeva to Eteri Tutberidze until it is confirmed.

Earlier on Wednesday, a number of sources unrelated to each other told RIA Novosti that the Olympic medalist, two-time world champion Russian figure skater Medvedeva is returning to the group of coach Tutberidze, under whose leadership she previously worked.

"We have nothing official yet, this is unofficial information. How can I comment? When it is officially decided, then I will comment. So far I have nothing to tell you," Gorshkov said.

Guess he is the last to know but he did say, "It was so hard trying to train from such a long distance."

And here we are.... :watch:

Seriously, what is the Russian equivalent of Kool Aid? Or does Eteri have Mafia connections we don't know about.

On the bright side, at least Evgenia won't need to hire a new choreographer or costume designer.

When she was with Orser and co., I kind of missed the facial bullfrography and granny dresses.

Medvedeva returned to Tutberidze on the initiative of "Khrustalny"

Renat Laishev, director of the Sambo-70 sports and education center, confirmed the information that the two-time world figure skating champion Evgenia Medvedeva decided to return to coach Eteri Tutberidze. In May 2018, the athlete went to the Canadian specialist Brian Orser.

“We are working on this with the school administration. It's not just about Medvedeva, because they studied at our school. It is necessary to humanly bring together and be friends. As in a family, sometimes half a step is not enough for reconciliation. Tutberidze has character, the girls are embarrassed to ask back. Everything can be solved.

The initiative is not only mine, but of the entire school administration and the director of "Khrustalny". It is important not to frighten off the process. I can’t say that Medvedev is one hundred percent returning, but there are makings.

A whole workshop of Tutberidze has been created, and everyone should not be spinning here. Quarrels are not worth a damn. And about Trusova, too, speech, and about other girls. Their fate is important to us, classmates worry about them, ”

 It's not just the "Medvedeva is evil" group who will have to reconcile their opinions. The "Eteri is evil and it's good that Janny escaped her evil clutches" group who have some rethinking to do as well.
In their defense, Eteri's group habit of trashing the minor skaters they coached the second they decide to leave them is a contributing factor.

Does anyone know what kind of visa/residence permit does/did Evgenia have to train/live in Canada? I don’t understand why it was impossible for her to go back to Canada once she was back in Russia in June... Everyone who has residence permits/long-term visas are allowed outside Russia to travel to those countries, there are even direct flights to the US. Travelling between Russia and the US was never closed...

Medvedeva held the first training session with Tutberidze

Returning to coach Eteri Tutberidze's group, Olympic silver medalist, two-time world champion, Russian figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva on Wednesday held her first training session in the Khrustalny ice palace, Renat Laishev, general director of the Sambo-70 sports and education center, told RIA Novosti.

"Evgenia Medvedeva has already started training at Khrustalny," Layshev said in a telephone conversation. "Zhenya's first training took place today."

Apparently not as much as some would like to think given some of those skaters have returned to work with them as coaches. Quite a few in fact. Teenagers also say things perhaps they shouldn't.
They posted it online... It's great that they are all able to move past it after some time has passed, it doesn't change the fact that the way they publicly talk about their minor skaters once they leave, either in interviews or on social media is unacceptable and inexcusable. But that's not the subject of this thread so let's leave it at that.

As far as I understand, Canada closed it's borders and only residents can come now - it took Jason Brown two times to get there and he managed to cross the border on his car, not using the planes and without having to change flights and etc. Evgenia doesn't have a residence permit, so for her it would have been almost impossible... She probably could have made it as far as the airport in Toronto and just to be asked to fly back. Too risky.

Medvedeva’s choices were probably reasonably limited in Russia. Who would have been her other option? It’s probably a money thing too, because due to no shows, there probably isn’t funds to cover international coaching.

But interesting to see how this goes given Medvedeva needs a different approach to training due to her injuries and age. Sambo 70 is proudly ‘one size fits all’ and repetition, repetition, repetition, get on the ice with the 10 year olds etc etc etc

Of course, Medvedeva knows enough to speak up about the training process. But interested to see how this goes.

Well she needs someone to be physically present training her. Not really of fan of her skating but I do hope she keeps that FD. Not sure her new coaches will allow that but it looks to have more potential to be interesting than any of the other FDs at test skates.

Thanks for the info. Does that mean she had a limited number of days to stay in Canada? Does that mean that she would have overstayed them had she stayed in Canada in March? Did she try to ask for a derogation to enter Canada? I am trying to understand if this news today could have been avoided...

If Medvedeva paid her own funds for the FD to be choreographed, then she should be entitled to keep it.

Far better to keep that than to have her just be given Kostornaya's old Daniil program or something.

Well, there was Buyonova with whom she's supposed to have been working. Apparently, that didn't work out. Plushenko or the St. Petersburg coaches. Yet, she opted to return to where she started.
