Liza T’s Lutz/Toe

The jumps are gorgeous and textbook. The ugly military salute arm should not be associated to Boitano.

I was under the impression that Tano (or worse) was no longer a consideration for scoring GOE. Only Rippons are given consideration. Anyway, I absolutely love her textbook jumps. So glad she is getting it back, even though it feels "Meh" since Anna Shcherbakova is landing 4lutz-3toe-3loop.

Variation of air position is no longer a bullet point at all.

The new bullet point is "Very good body position from take-off to landing."

If an arm variation contributes to the body position being "very good" in an individual judge's opinion, then that judge can award that bullet point, regardless of whether it's 1 arm or 2.

If the body position isn't very good, either because of the arm position or for other reasons, then the judges wouldn't reward it.

Each judge will need to decide for him- or herself where the line is between good and very good.

I always liked Liz, first as this talented but rather shy young lady, and her shyness for me was part of her charm. Then she.........blossomed.......into this gorgeous woman, turning heads and winning medals! (As a senior, 14 Gold, 6 Silver and 6 Bronze). And she's still only 21!

It does not feel "mah" to me. Tuktamysheva has much better (actually pristine) technique on her lutz unlike Shcherbakova whose lutz - triple or quadruple is a little cheated one. That sustained way of landing from Elizaveta is also glorious. What a shame that it is not rated as highly as it should. I can think of instances when Medvedeva received more points for her flutz than Tuktamysheva for her not only clean but superb lutz.

If Liza does this combo AND a Triple Axel, she enters the conversation again about podium placement. Her personifying Mishin’s pholosophy On choreography and interpretation limits her, we know that. Still, her mom and and presence and jumps put her in the mix. I never knew why she of all ladies was only doing toe/toe

Hopefully Mishin and Tuk realize this season how important packaging, music, and speed are. Last season at Cup of China, she skated clean with a stepout on the 3axel in the LP, and still finished 7th in an insanely well-skated event. The jumps were very good, but the programs were dreadful and did not play to her strengths at all. Tuk will never be an artist or have decent transitions, but if she gets good music and some fun choreography, I think it will help her immensely. Look at the Sandstorm LP from 2015 as an example.

After watching Konstantinova and Sotskova all last season, I'm ready more than ever for a Tuktamysheva (and Radionova) comeback this season. Show 'em how it's done, please! :kickass:

She has struggled with the 3lutz-3toe in the past, because while her lutz is big and from a teknik point of view, amazing, she hasn't always have enough speed/flow out of the landing to consistently do a 3toe afterwards. It's easier to do a 3-3 when the first jump is lower and covers more distance. More difficult when the first triple is high and floats.
