JGP #3 - Varese ITA - Men's SP & FS

Choi

4z, 4t looked two-footed, 3a-2a nice, 3z-3t, camel spin with heel pop, 3z flipped out, 3f-1r-3s little tight on sal, good fight, think his skating doesn't have the level of ease that Nishino's does, but only small errors and wonderful difficulty. Nice skate.

I mean this in a nice way - I'm glad the difference between the 2 was more than 1 point because how upsetting would that have been to lose out on a title because of a time deduction?

Can someone explain the ins and outs of the start time deduction to me please? Does the clock start when your name is announced? Did he spend too much time talking to his coach? Too much time skating in ovals around his start point (addressing crowd while loosening up)? Some combination?

I counted 10 seconds with his coach after introduction, then 30 more seconds before he started his skate (~25s skating around and ~5s getting set before his start). 40s in all, so I assume the limit is 30s from introduction?

Yes, 30s from name being called. Hyungkyung did keep him for a while, I'm glad it wasn't ALL down to that one deduction!

It's always nice to see a well trained athlete who can think on their feet. Jiarui quickly realizing he could replace his last jump with the triple flip he missed, and successfully landed it.
