ISU Grand Prix Assignments 2018/19 season

How about KOMATSUBARA / KOLETO to replace MIN / GAMELIN? Japan has an open PAIRS slot that could maybe fill it with a US team....???

No. 1 Fear/Gibson have already been chosen for Skate America and I thought it would go to Canada because of their 2018 International Lake Placid Ice Dance trophy BRONZE Medal

Sales/Wamsteeker can not be chosen since they aren't part of the top 10 teams with the best 17-18 SB scores still without 2 events. The LakePlacid results are irrelevant for the consideration. Same for Komatsubara/Koleto.

I think it will go to Sales/Wamsteeker of Canada because of Lake Placid International dance trophy but for America TBD I think it will be a junior team that is eligible for seniors like maybe Lewis/Bye that had Bronze at Junior nationals who have real potential for senior circut
Lewis has been on vacation all summer. i haven't seen anything official but they haven't skated together in weeks.

Pairs is going to be dreadful this season. Between all the retirements teams sitting out the GP and injuries this may be the weakest season that we've seen with Pairs in the last 8 years and i don't see any young teams coming up like T/M did the last Olympic cycle making a move.

The post Vancouver 2010-2011 pair season was also quite weak . We saw modest teams like Hausch/Wende , Lawrence/Swiegers medalling on the GP, but yeah at least we saw young teams like Sui/Han, Stolbova/Klimov and Takahashi/Tran making their way up.

Actually, both may be part of the top 10 teams with the best SB scores still without 2 events:

FEAR GIBSON - already at SA
1-EVDOKIMOVA / BAZIN - Rostelecom
MULLER / DIECK - already at SA
2-YANOVSKAYA / LUKACS - Rostelecom
3-REED / AMBRULEVICIUS - IDF
4-TORN / PARTANEN - FIN GP
5-TWEEDALE / BUCKLAND - SC
6-MANSOUROVA / CESKA - FIN GP reportedly split
7-GARABEDIAN / PROUX-SENECAL - Rostelecom reportedly split

8-SALES / WAMSTEEKER - SC
9-KOMATSUBARA / KOLETO - NHK

Mansourova/Ceksa and Garabedian/Senecal got assignments from the first go, meaning their names were submitted for consideration so unless their feds had bothered to formally correct ISU informing their splits they should still be on the alternate lists. (Both teams have not been removed from the ISU website so far despite the split reports)

As for F/G and M/D I dont think the alternate list moves down a spot just because some teams are already assigned to the event with a vacant spot. That's why they give such a wide range of 10 choices to the feds. Maybe rules expert @kwanfan1818 can confirm this.

??? Is there are reason you skipped Koch & Nuchtern, Shpilevaya & Smirnov, and Urban & Steffan?

-Koch & Nuchtern are above Garabedian & Proux-Senecal. (And were listed for the German team last I heard).
-Shpilevaya & Smirnov are above Sales & Wamsteeker. (And were listed for Russian funding last I heard)
-Have Urban & Steffan split? (These two I haven't heard anything about since last season so it wouldn't be surprising).

I like Sales & Wamsteeker, but I'd be surprised if Skate America prioritized them if they aren't on the replacement list. Canada is the only country that didn't invite two U.S. dance teams this season.
Reed & Ambrulevicius would probably be the most likely choice for SA as they are the top team on the list that trains in North America. And Tweedale & Buckland are apparently skating this summer with Shpilband. I don't even think it's that unlikely that SA would invite one of the top Russian or European-based dance teams on the list, though the Finland event & Rostelecom seem the most likely events for those teams. (Finland invited three U.S. dance teams this year so if Russia doesn't give Torn & Partanen a berth, I'd think it'd be quite plausible that Skate America might invite them).

Who as the alternates list because I really want to know, also does Hase / Seegert of Germany have 2 or 1 Grand Prix assignments

how do you get a hold of the alternates list please reply as soon as you get this if you have any info thanks priviet

Pairs grid was updated today. https://isu.org/docman-documents-li.../17410-pair-skating-2018-19-all-6-events/file

Stellato/Bartholomay are added to Finland (but Sui/Han and Seguin/Bilodeau are still crossed off), and Lu/Mitrofanov were added to NHK.

Good news for US pairs then.

So Finland gave back their pairs spot as suspected and the replacements were in order from the top of the list. Nice job. And it looks like most pairs will get a shot at the GP this season.

France is still not updated, but the IdF website does show Esbrat/Novoselov out and Hase/Seegert + Ruest/Wolfe in. So there should still be one spot there.

And here is the current status of the Pairs list- the minimum score for a GP is D/K's score, so there won't be any more below them...there are 5 more spots (I am including the TdF spot for Esbrat/Novoselov) to be filled, 6 if you count the USA TBD

41 Lu & Mitrofanov - NHK
42 Walsh & Michaud - SC
43 Pfund & Santillan
44 Suzaki & Kihara - NHK
47 Barquero & Maestu
50 Zhang & Song
53 Danilova & Kamianchuk

7 pairs are listed at the moment:

Camille RUEST / Andrew WOLFE (CAN)
Minerva Fabienne HASE / Nolan SEEGERT (ALL)

Tae Ok RYOM / Ju Sik KIM (PRK)
Vanessa JAMES / Morgan CIPRES (FRA)
Aleksandra BOIKOVA / Dmitrii KOZLOVSKII (RUS)
Haven DENNEY / Brandon FRAZIER (USA)
Tarah KAYNE / Danny O’SHEA (USA)

Since there are no GP technical minimums this year, the only Pairs who can be added to the Alternates list are those who win Challenger Series events, those under the minimum now who earn the GP minimum at one of the early Challenger Series events, and, possibly, split couples, although I haven't read of any that have been together long enough to be ready for GP. (If one of the members needs clearance, it has to be done 30 days before the beginning of the event for Pairs/Dance, which are not subject to the July 1 deadline.)

So who do we need to politik to get Barquero & Maestu a spot next!?!?

They should be good to get one, if not two I think. I suspect Finland will want them.

Looking at this list, i believe it was mentioned that Zhang/Song are not listed on the Chinese National team and that Danilova/Kamianchuk are likely not together anymore, last competing about a year ago.

That means there are probably only seven potential assignments remaining for the teams listed with five, if not six available right now.

And it should mean is that every team that is an option from this list is guaranteed to have at least one spot by the time everything is said and done.

I only count 4 spots remaining: Two in Finland, 1 as a TBA in SA and 1 in IdF because of E/N split (the other two have been already reported to be replaced even though the ISU pdf file hasnt been updated).

Oops. That is correct. So that means Barquero/Maestu and Pfund/Santillan could both miss out if the other three teams get a second event first and USFS chooses a different team for Skate America.

I still think Barquero/Maetsu are in good shape as they are the only European team on the list and both events with open spots are in Europe.
