ISU Grand Prix Assignments 2018/19 season

We don't know. SamuraiK's list in post #321 is the list of athletes that we know are on the replacement list. You have to be among the top ten athletes with either 1 or 0 spots already assigned on the GP to be clearly on that list. It doesn't matter that Paganini was selected during the initial draw. It only matters who is among the top ten after the draw is over. However, since so many of the athletes in that top ten list are ineligible for selection due to Russia & Japan having maxed out their spots, people are speculating that the current ladies replacement list might include athletes ranked below Fedichkina.

Even if they go only with eligible ladies, Paganini won't be on it.

This is what I have, removing all Russian and Japanese ladies, and the juniors:
  1. Eunsoo Lim (CoR)
  2. Angela Wang (NHK)
  3. Courtney Hicks (NHK)
  4. Hanul Kim
  5. Xiangning Li (NHK)
  6. Starr Andrews (SA)
  7. Emmy Ma
  8. Alaine Chartrand (SC)
  9. Mae Bernice Meite (IdF)
  10. Caroline Zhang (or So Hyun An if Caroline is done)

Suzaki/Kihara got the other Finland spot on today's update. Esbrat/Novoselov still not removed from France on ISU site.

Don't know about Rodeghiero, but Edmunds just posted on IG that she's been a counselor at a Summer Camp for kids who have a parent battling cancer, so I would assume she's done (it wasn't a skating camp)

I think it was pretty evident Edmunds was done last year when she withdrew at Nationals. I hope she's very successful in the rest of her life :)

Pairs... just the USD TBD host spot plus one spot at IdF remains (the spot to be vacated by Esbrat/Novoselov), although at this point the E/N withdrawal is not even reflected on the ISU list. Sub list:

41 Lu & Mitrofanov - NHK
42 Walsh & Michaud - SC
43 Pfund & Santillan
47 Barquero & Maestu

Dance... I decided to give the list a go, although I probably made mistakes. Here we have left to fill TBD host spots for USA, France, Finland and Russia; an NHK host spot just vacated by Muramoto/Reed (does Japan have a team they'd be ready to slot in?); and two open spots at Russia due to the withdrawals of Muramoto/Reed and Garabedian/Proulx-Senecal. I expanded the list to 11, including Sosnitskaia/Golovishnokov because of the rumored split of Mansourova/Ceska; if they are really split, then they would go off the sub list and also open up another spot at Finland.

FEAR / GIBSON - SA
EVDOKIMOVA / BAZIN - Rostelecom
MULLER / DIECK - SA
YANOVSKAYA / LUKACS - Rostelecom
REED / AMBRULEVICIUS - IDF
TORN / PARTANEN - FIN GP
TWEEDALE / BUCKLAND - SC
MANSOUROVA / CESKA - FIN GP reportedly split
SALES / WAMSTEEKER - SC
KOMATSUBARA / KOLETO - NHK
SOSNITSKAIA / GOLOVISHNOKOV

^^^ Thanks, @breathesgelatin - adding:

51 Shari KOCH / Christian NÜCHTERN GER (none) - scheduled to compete at NRW Summer Trophy in Dortmund this weekend
54 Anastasia SHPILEVAYA / Grigory SMIRNOV RUS (none; added - sorry, @Dobre!)
55 Haley SALES / Nikolas WAMSTEEKER CAN (Skate Canada)
56 Jennifer URBAN / Benjamin STEFFAN GER (none)

KOCH & NUCHTERN and SHPILEVAYA & SMIRNOV are above Sales & Wamsteeker. (Unless someone has heard otherwise?)

Suzaki/Kihara got the other Finland spot on today's update. Esbrat/Novoselov still not removed from France on ISU site.

The other 2 withdrawals from IdF are still on the PDF with no replacements even though we know H/S and R/W already got them so I assume FRA has not updated to ISU anything despite updating its own website :) That or Didier is waiting till the last minute so he doesn't have to replace E/N with anyone.

its interesting that the column for Rostelecom cup has now only 11 entries as total in the bottom with the 12th file just as a blank space as if it's already a done deal there will be no replacement. Apparently they are keeping D10's spot untouched. I don't like it but it is what it is.

That's a great list for Finland's event. The SA sub list minus Russia, Japan, and USA would be this:
1. Lim (COR)
2. Kim
3. Li (NHK)
4. Chartrand (SC)
5. Meite (IDF)
6. An
7. Craine
8. Algotsson
9. Lindfors
10. Paganini

But this is all conjecture--there's nothing in the announcement that says that athletes who can't compete at an event due to country limits are "replaced" with lower-ranked athletes from the SB list.

I assume FRA has not updated to ISU anything despite updating its own website :) That or Didier is waiting till the last minute so he doesn't have to replace E/N with anyone.

Isn't that standard operating procedure for Didier? Withdraw E/N at the last minute and not use the spot. :blah:

He did that in 2016: they were first listed as a WD on the November 7 grid; IdF started on November 11. In 2017, they got the TBD on the September 19 grid, and they placed 7th.

Last season it was Besseghier who was WD at the last minute and wasn't replaced, and Zijun Li WD from both SA and IdF and wasn't replaced in either.

Hosts aren't required to substitute anyone until the Pairs field drops below 6, the Dance field drops below 8, and/or the singles fields drop below 10.

ETA: Last season, the TBD replacements were on the grids dated September 1-September 19.

On paper, Didier could give the spot to other French pairs: Mendoza-Kovalev, Keriven-Pierre, or Esbrat-whoever..but it is never going to happen. The French masters are in 6 weeks. That is when he usually tells them not to waste their time and to apply for jobs at Holiday on Ice or the lido...you wouldn't want Didier to invest money in more than one pair. After all, that second pair guy could become olympic champion years later.

To be fair, though, Besseghier's withdrawal wasn't DG playing games - Chafik hadn't fully recovered from his collapsed lung by that point, so it was medically mandated.

Ponomarenko vs Bukin!!!! (This has probably happened before but I don't follow juniors so much so...)

I doubt it. Stepanova & Bukin moved to senior in 2013-2014 season long before Carreira & Ponomarenko debuted at JGP. Its good that their parents rivalry was way before my time so I can't feel too old now watching their kids competing against each other :D
