Waiting for British women's team to be announced feels like waiting to find out the next Pope.
And it just can’t go well. Becky probably hasn’t helped her cause by constantly moaning about the fed on Twitter with cryptic messages (and less cryptic ones from her sister). Jennifer Gadirova hasn’t done well in trials and it’s hard to justify taking her. I anticipate a really boring team at this stage with close to 0 prospect of a medal and loads of backlash.Waiting for British women's team to be announced feels like waiting to find out the next Pope.
Last month after Europeans I thought perhaps two sets of sisters, now who knows? And it just can’t go well. Gosh, why so many more men than women?More information on championships, finally.
There are 78 guys entered (33 senior and 45 junior) and 44 women (31 senior and 13 junior), including Riley McCusker, Laurie Hernandez and Chelsie Memmell.
My guess is because the guys need to be named to a team to get access to high quality training. With fewer college programs and fewer gyms set up for their apparatus, a national team nomination makes life a lot easier.Gosh, why so many more men than women?
The meet in Varna is not part of the Olympic qualification. US MAG did enter some of the competitions, but no one was in serious contention to win an Olympic berth. Pommel horse specialist Stephen Nedoroscik won the event in Melbourne and competed at two other events but only ended up 6th in the standings. Are there many of the men doing the Jade Carey route to an Olympic berth? I was watching last nights meet in Varna and there were no US representation.
If I remember right, Nedoroscik was supposed to compete at Baku, but was told to come home because of the pandemic & travel restrictions setting in. Who knows what would have happened if he had been able to compete. The meet in Varna is not part of the Olympic qualification. That sounds right. I looked up the results from Baku because I know they cancelled apparatus finals and gave the olympic qualifying points based on qualification rank, which upset a lot of people, and I didn't see his name in the results. If I remember right, Nedoroscik was supposed to compete at Baku, but was told to come home because of the ********* & travel restrictions setting in. I wonder if she will do all events, or just bars so as to be named to the National Team. For those who were asking, per Gymcastic, Riley McCusker is listed in the starting lineup for Nats next weekend. I never heard what her injury was, but it doesn't seem to be serious.
My dvr picked up that recording. It reminded me if the 20 Minute Workout that used to come on when we were kids. Five minutes in and you'd swear you had asthma. My God....these folks are FIT!! I didn't see the awards ceremony (I fell asleep) but the drones make me want to watch.Related but no cigar. I had no idea that there was an FIG sanctioned Aerobic Gymnastics competition(Worlds). I only just watched the last routine and had no idea what to make of it. That being said, the medal recipients had their medals delivered by drone! Don't you just love technology?

The tv schedule for Nats is in the gym thread.@Sylvia just to clarify, the schedule you copied here is for the Olympic trials, correct? My reference was to US Nationals which is this coming weekend unless I've got this completely mixed up! (always possible!)
Thanks! I never look in TV Alerts and clearly I need to start! The tv schedule for Nats is in the gym thread.
Riley confirmed she will only do Bars at Nationals:I wonder if she will do all events, or just bars so as to be named to the National Team.
This is probably a good idea. The idea of trying to compete to get on a 4 member team after the panorama and everything that the last 18 months has entailed is probably stressful beyond measure. If there's the option to compete for another quad, why rush it and risk physical injury or worse? 2024 is only 3 years away, as opposed to 4. I think this is very wise.Konnor seems to have gone back to her original goal of the 2024 Olympics. She didn't look ready at Classics.
