Cats can love unconditionally also, you just might not see it as easily as you do in a dog. My cat who passed away recently was very loving in her way, she had a great personality. Sometimes being quiet is just as loving. Anyways this is a Gracie cheer thread so I'm so happy to see the skaters being friends and sticking up for one another - way to go! And I just love that kitty. :cat:

I don't know if this has been posted before but this is a heartfelt article by Phil h. My heart is heavy today. All my love and hugs to Gracie.

That was very sensitive.

This struck me:

I asked what had led her to feel comfortable again with expressing what really was on her mind. She smiled.

“I was getting tired of being called a cardboard cutout,” she answered.

Thank you, @Teamgracie for providing the link to Phil's article ... and thank you, Phil. :)

To the beautiful Gracie Gold: Heal and be happy, again. We are with you!

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” ~ Henry David Thoreau

^^ Well, but seemingly Phil is evolving and growing in self-awareness and more honest perspectives that are less reliant on hype, easy cliches, and hurtful non-constructive criticisms. :)

Gracie currently is in Bismarck, North Dakota, teaching a seminar with John Coughlin (they also did a seminar together in Kansas City back in March), and she will be in Columbus, Ohio as "master of ceremony" for Skate It Forward's second annual benefit show this Saturday, June 16 - more info on the show is posted in GSD here: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...galas-2018-edition.103780/page-2#post-5373096

Lets bump this up.

With an assignment in the GP Im very curious. I dont think USFSA would let her be selected if they didnt hear from her that she intended to compete.

Has anyone seen her lately? Who will be her coach? Marina still do you think?

If she is healthy and doing better I would love to see her again.

If GG is healthy enough to compete again, that alone is a reason to celebrate! ? Prayers have been answered if it turns out that she is. Also, I think her fans would tell her there is no pressure, no unrealistic, ott expectations or results are expected - none. Just be happy and healthy and do this for yourself.

Any comeback should be strictly on Gracie's terms.

What a nice surprise to see her name on the GP schedule! ?

She's been liking tweets about her coming back so unless something changes (Russia is a long way away so it's possible), it seems like she is willing and eager. Rumors have been that she's been skating in Pennsylvania. Don't know if that's true.

I am at Liberty watching GG practice as I write this. She’s landing most of what she has tried. She is understandably carrying a few pounds which i’m sure will melt off as she cranks up. She described herself as a work in progress when we spoke. I’m glad she’s on her way back.

Hi - that’s great news! Does this mean she is competing in Philly, and if so, will she be doing the international competition (as far as I can see, she’s not listed for the domestic one).

Very exciting, and thanks for posting. :)

@Tavi I think she's just working doubles now based on an earlier report from someone else. This competition is occurring at the rink she trains at normally, that's why she's there.

Gracie and John Coughlin joined forces to coach at another training camp last week ... this time in Blaine, Minnesota, July 25-27 -- here's a write up on the rink's website: https://www.nscsports.org/news_article/show/937194
Gracie's quote at the end reads:
“Usually a lot of people retire and it’s their final nationals, or final world championships … mine just abruptly ended in a whirlwind” Gold said. “I just couldn’t leave skating on that note, so as far as new competitions and new amazing things, I definitely have those ambitions. It’s a work in progress.”
John Coughlin posted 9 photos and 1 short video clip of the skaters performing to "This is Me" at the end: https://www.instagram.com/p/BlykZH5lJf3/?hl=en&taken-by=johncoughlinusa
She described herself as a work in progress when we spoke. I’m glad she’s on her way back.
Thanks for sharing, @Omilona. :)

She was hitting the 3L maybe 35% of the time. Quite a few she landed, then face planted. Dear Skater Child said she was too far over the outside edge, not that I could see it. Several nice clean 2 Axels. I have sympathy for her as she has the same eating disorder my own child struggles with. She seems a very nice person when you talk to her.

Well, 35% of the 3L (Lutz or Loop? I'm assuming Lutz because of the outside edge mention) and clean 2As is a lot better than the naysayers would like us to think. TBH based on reports it sounds like she's on a pretty good track to be ready for the season. I'm not sure if she'll be ready to be a medal threat at the Grand Prix, but I bet she'll be able to put out some really respectable performances.

Excuse my ignorance but isn't Lutz the hardest jump besides axle and don't people usually practice in order. Is it wishful thinking to think she has the other triples?

@happycamper2554 I'm sure some of the people on this thread who've seen her practice could tell you. (paging @Omilona and @scooter) I'd assume it means the other triples are going well, but who knows. Gracie has always had a good lutz so maybe that one's just coming back to her fastest.

@happycamper2554 Given that Gracie was consistently landing all of the triples up to lutz not that long ago I would assume she was working on them all pretty much at the same time. She probably started with the 2A, 3S, and 3T, but moved fairly quickly onto the rest. For Gracie, the key would have been to get her muscles back in shape so that she doesn’t injure herself. While she was doing that she would have been working on doubles just to get the feel of the ice back. For someone who had been landing those jumps for many years, once the muscles were in a place where she could start training, it would not be long before she was working on all of the jumps. She certainly wouldn’t wait until each jump was consistent before moving onto the next. Most kids learning them for the first time don’t even do that. (That is a fairly old fashioned way of teaching jumps.)

It would kill people that don’t know what the hell theyre talking about to shut up. How’s she doing you ask? Leave it up to people here “ ohhhh i heard from somebody that lives in England that she’s landing doubles and working on getting comfortable with the back spin position”. If you haven’t seen her, you don’t know so, shush. How she’s progressing and what you heard second or third hand isn’t what people want to know.

1. It’s really not your right to control what people say.
2. Two posts from yesterday were eyewitness reports.

You are incapable of determining irony AS it’s happening, clearly. I say whatever th hell i want, like you. Since you’re capable of counting, there were more than 2 posts. You got it?

I only saw the one practice. The double doubles that she did all looked good. It was the 3 loop she was working on. I give her credit for coming back. And BTW, I am also Omilona...Scooter was my name associated with my old deactivated email. I made Omilona with the new one in case I got a pm or something. But for some reason, the board sometimes insists on scooter and wont let me into Omilona...oh well...just me anyway! :-)

For Gracie fans, she has given her first "real" interview to someone she knows and trusts (she coached this man's daughter in Scottsdale, Arizona and forged a personal bond with him there): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whXn7k87XYk

This was an amazing interview and made me feel even more excited that she’s working towards this comeback. I’m so glad she got the help she needed and kudos to the friend that encouraged her to do so.

The video has been removed. That's too bad, I was very interested in seeing it. I'm wishing her well in this difficult return and hope she is finding happiness along with her health.
