As a fan and follower of Mirai, I admit that lately I have not tried very hard to keep up with her Instagram account, although I did my best back when she was competing.
But I was quick to click on the paid partnership post because of the baby news!

(So my two cents are that I do not think the post backfired -- I bet that it will get greater views/likes/reposts than a more "ordinary" post from Mirai. And I hope that her partnership agreement will take that into account.
Also does not hurt that a lot of non-local skating fans will be coming to Boston for Worlds. I think some of them would be receptive to this low-key introduction to a sightseeing option, even if the baby is the "star" of the post.)
