I happened to catch his performance on PBS today. I had never heard of this 15 year old. He is really good. I looked up his bio on Wikipedia. It seems he has been performing since he was 3. He is a singer, pianist, song writer, actor. His parents are from Ukraine.

He is performing here on Tuesday but I heard the performance is sold out.

Has anyone seen him perform?

I am going to call the PBS station today to see if I can still get a ticket with the one time $50 donation they had announced. I had called them yesterday, but they told me to call their membership services. I may actually try to get two tickets if one of my friends wants to go too.

ETA: I got a ticket to his performance on May 3rd. YAY!

It's a balcony ticket, but who cares? I will carry my binoculars.

Just got back from 15 year old child prodigy Ethan Bortnick's concert. Hard to believe grounded he is at such a young age. He played the piano and sang a variety of songs. Got the audience involved in some of the songs ('The answer my friend is blowing in the wind' by Peter, Paul, Mary, We are the world, Lean on me). At one point he asked everyone to stand up. We had no clue what was coming. Then he started playing Rock around the clock, and everyone was clapping or dancing. For 'we are the world' the 'lighters' came out in the form of several cell phones and flash lights (I think). He also sang some of his own songs, his own version of 'America the beautiful', 'What a wonderful world'. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and bought a CD of his earlier performances, plus a 'piano' pin (wish I had bought a pendant instead; it's hard to wear a pin unless I wear a jacket. Ethan is truly amazing. His parents and his brother were in the audience but I couldn't see them from where I sat.
