Eteri Tutberidze Method

Maybe it's a translation issue, but I can't find anything on the Internetz about a magazine called "Editorial Opinion".
The original source for the interview is Match TV which is a Russian sports television network which is noted above the image with the subheading of the article.

Another interview with Tutberidze. She still thinks she's right of course.
It's worth a look if only to see the photo of her.
“When Diana turned 16, she said to me, ‘I can’t see a coach here who is interested in working with us – a professional who can teach us how to skate well and become real athletes.’ That’s when her determination emerged. My phone was ringing constantly with her saying, ‘I’m going, that’s it! We have to train there!’”

Tutberidze admitted she was initially hesitant about the distance:

“I told her, ‘How do you imagine this? It’s a huge distance – I can’t just be there in an instant. I won’t be able to help.’ But she stood her ground, no matter how much I tried to persuade her otherwise."
That was probably Diana's main reason for moving away, but she must have too tactful to say so herself.

It's also funny because it's a pretty damming statement on the state of Russian ice dance coaching, that she couldn't find a single ice dance coach in Russia that she wanted to train with or could teach her to "become real athlete" (and of course, blatant nepotism enabled her training outside of Russia and even getting released, when most other Russian ice dancers can only dream of that).

No, the original article is from Russian magazine that is indeed named “Editorial Opinion”.
I guess they just cut it from the “The editorial opinion may not reflect the views of the authors…” line. Tutberidze is on their July cover.

Having just finished reading the thread, I'm laughing at the post claiming Tutberidze is like a college professor, from Ours Truly Yuma Kagiyama has a +5 quality Flutz.

To twist "Tinami Amori"'s point - yeah, agree Tutberidze is probably just one of a string of vile people, just she gets more noticed because she's the most successful. If she gets replaced, she'll be replaced by someone equally vile, just better at hiding it.

I've only heard lore about Tinami, and read some old posts on Russian skating.

I think sadly, that sort of normalization and head-in-sand attitude are common in many of the "strict parents and teachers" cultures where I'm placing "strict" in quotation marks for good reason.
