The FoI skaters are staying in what looks like a beautiful, tranquil ryokan (Japanese-style inn) in Shizuoka -- think this is a tree on the grounds: https://www.instagram.com/p/CfIL-1-JWkL/I think this fan's post says that Jason's first number was "I Lived" (from SOI) and his second was to a live performance by Seiko Niizuma: https://www.instagram.com/p/Ce_yOn-vupd/
ETA that Jason tweeted 3 photos [from Kobe]: https://twitter.com/jasonbskates/status/1538666482691100672
What's next for you?
I'd love to know the answer to that! Being a post-Olympic year, I'll probably do some shows, travel and teach some seminars, and take a break of sorts to decompress after such an intense competitive season. From there, I have lots of decisions I will have to make, but will try to give myself time to figure that out.
Jason's post: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cf1VqUeOOGd/I’m super happy to announce that my new short program is gonna be choreographed by @jasonbskates stay tuned and follow The Ice Show in japan to find out the music. I really enjoyed working with you and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
That tells me Grassl really does want to find the artistic side.Daniel Grassl recently toured around Chicago, guided by Jason: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cfv9B2IItln/

Sooooo great!!!! Two of my all-time favorite skaters. I literally had spontaneous tears roll down my face after watching the mastery of these two together. Just wow. Thanks so much for posting!RIVERDANCE with Shae-Lynn Bourne at "Friends on Ice" in Japan!https://www.instagram.com/reel/Ch45MbsD3oh/
"The Impossible Dream" skated as as FS at Japan Open! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyAWa2ppYHgJason got a well-deserved standing ovation.
I really don't want to think about Jason retiring from competitive skating. He brings something unique to the ice that has me watching his routines again and again, even when they aren't perfect from a technical standpoint.
And yet, I really enjoy his skating and remember a lot of his performances. Many of the guys that do quads are not all that interesting. Quads just did not happen for him and he should not be mocked for this, IMHO.I don't think JB has a choice! He can't keep up technically! Artistic scores can't save him if other skaters performing multi-quads!

I wish that there were good pro skating competitions that focused on things other than jumps. At the peak of pro skating in the U.S., it got a bit crazy. There were almost too many events. But, it would be great if people like Jason and Nathan and Hanyu had events to compete in. Between injuries and age and focusing on college, doing tons of difficult jumps isn't realistic for these guys, but they still could put out programs that fans would enjoy.I really don't want to think about Jason retiring from competitive skating. I don't think we've seen all that Jason has to offer artistically and we might see some even greater programs if he did not have to do so many jumps.
Yes. I recognize that his jump content isn't quite up to par by today's standards. But I enjoy his performances so much more than most of the multi-quad skaters. And I'm sad that we won't be able to see him skate very often anymore, once he makes it official. Opportunities to watch skating beyond competition are virtually nonexistent in the U.S., aside from SOI. There are tours, but not here. And yet, I really enjoy his skating and remember a lot of his performances. Many of the guys that do quads are not all that interesting. I think she speaks for all of us.
And why not ! I’m excited about what he’ll add to Nationals. The most artistic program of course. He might be on the podium one more time.Jason has just posted on Instagram that he will be skating at US Nationals!
What a great read! I love his attitude. I'm glad we'll be able to see more skating from him and that he's given himself permission to try something without knowing whether it will work out well and without putting an insane amount of pressure on himself.Jason Brown returns to figure skating, and a Toronto basement, with an 'Impossible Dream'
