They lost a level on their lift today - if they'd hit L4, they'd have been really close with just the additional TES and probably would have gotten enough of a GOE bump to put them over 80.

Just came here to say that - so frustrating because they’ve not had a lift called as a L3 since the days of Wicked Game!!
 
ok these two are the only one I've seen so far but I thought they did great! Their wee feetsies could be cleaned up a bit, but I wouldn't want perfection at this point in the season anyway. I did love their attack and energy. This rd exhausts me just watching it lol.

Because of the way this season has shaken out, gpf was always going to be a longshot at this point, but so far they are doing everything they can to keep themselves in that conversation which is all you can do.

GPF was totally within their grasp - and they'd have won the last spot had GuigFab not bit it so hard in the FD at GPdF that LopBri wound up winning with a score that would have easily been beaten by CarPon had they been matched head-to-head at any GP.

You're right, though, all they can do at this point is keep themselves in the conversation and let the standings sort themselves out correctly at Worlds. The good thing is they've already decisively beat ReedAmbru at NHK, so getting past them at Worlds this year won't be the problem it was last season (when both CarPon & LopBri should have beaten them, to be fair).

They were a little off - probably due to the warm-up collision with SmaDie. The other important takeaway is that while they may not have made the GPF (due to the sheer bad luck of not being at GPdF), they have solidified themselves as the clear #6 in the world, with a couple of points advantage over both LopBri and TurkVers. Crossing my fingers that they can skate clean and with a bit more freedom in Boston and secure a seeded GP placement for next season.
 
Really pleased for them in that they put out 4 solid skates on the GP. Plus they got those medals in 2 of the deepest fields on the GP this season. Pure bad luck and good luck for others but to be 1st alternate is great and you never know what might happen in the next 2 weeks!

What I will say though is that the tech panel consisted of an Italian and a Canadian which could explain some level calls that I think are harsh. Also, look, the Dune is great but are they over a point in PCS above them? Absolutely not.

There was a US judge on the panel. The tech panel consisted of a Canadian, Pole & Slovakian. Referee was Italian. The only really questionable call was the Lv 3 on the lift in the RD. They also both got Lv 2 on their SeSt this week vs Lv 3 at NHK - but they were also a bit tighter here this week, so that could be a valid call for their turns & edges.

hm I would partially disagree on that one. For him, yes. For her, no.

I think if he were in a darker colour (like a very dark green) with a higher waisted trouser and an ever so slightly less fitted top then it would look great. Plus a deep dark green would really compliment the gold dress.

I actually think a navy blue with gold trim shirt for him would be much more complimentary to her dress. Agree on the higher-waisted trouser - or maybe a sash/wide belt around the waist like a military dress uniform.

yeah basically any deep dark colour that isn't black I'd be happy with. Navy? Maroon? Heck maybe even jump on the purple trend that every ice dance team seems to be on this season! (Kidding, only navy or green would keep me happy). But certainly I think the top and trousers need to be the same colour. Not suitable for this programme, but my favourite costume of his to date was the one he wore for Wicked Game - wearing a head to toe monochrome really works for him.
 
you know they might not have had the best luck in terms of going up against flawless world medalists this season BUT they did get the 2 prettiest medals on the GP this year.

After China, they've now done every GP currently on the roster and of recent past:
