also, even though we already knew, this score definitely differentiates them from the other US teams. They are clearly in that us 2nd spot. The competition will be for that 3rd spot. Also puts them in a pretty good spot in the world hierarchy as well.

Yup. This is a HUGE separation from the rest of the US teams. And it puts them within "mistake" distance to the top 5, while putting some space between ReedAmbru & LopBri. I'm very pleased with this score.

I love g/f and don't wish any ill will on them, but their programs haven't been enthusiastically received. And cpom, lala, and g/f are all currently tied for gpf places and competing at coc, so whoever gets bronze there will be the one out of gpf. I know this is most likely to be cpom, but also if even Ben in noticing the momentum of the younger teams...well, maybe they're not quite out of it yet.

I was thinking something like this might happen. IIRC Belbin/Agosto withdrew from the GPF one year (2008 or 2009?), seemingly to avoid being beaten by Davis/White for the first time. That obviously wasn't the reason given for withdrawing, but there was a lot of fan speculation.

Winning the silver medal only rates you a highlight reel on the nbc broadcast but they made sure to show the slo-mo of the kiss which might be their smartest choreography choice if they want to get the normies invested in their skating lol. Come for the choreography, stay for actual good skating skills.
