Hopefully not, but contest hate thread is scary, Canadian and Korean fans can be equally mad at times.

And Kaetlyn gets brought up and criticized all the time in threads about Russian ladies on other forums. And Evgenia gets criticized by fans from a lot of different countries. Now, I prefer watching Kaetlyn's programs but I actually like Evgenia quite a lot, but my point is there's no need to go on generalizing entire countries' fan bases because you dislike what a few posters said.

In 40+ years living in North America, i noticed that most North Americans never learned about the great pantomime Marcel Marceau, forgot the expressiveness of silent film stars like Theda Bara and Mary Pickford, and probably never saw any performances by Comedie Francaise....

Geez, tell this to Anna P., the one look wonder of current ladies skating. I find Kaetlyn, Ashley, Caroline and Mao's performances, much more expressive than most of the current Russian crop that I call ...Beige.

Canada didn't send anyone to Tallinn last season though. And Warsaw is listed on the Skate Canada assignments page and was from the beginning of the season, but Tallinn isn't.

I'm wondering if anyone will do Coupe de Nice - it's coming up soon. It's not on the international assignments page, but it wasn't last year when Nishimura went.

Anyway in other news, Veronik Mallet did not skate at sub sectionals this week-end. At this rate I'd be surprised if we saw her again

We all remember how much Kaetlyn struggled in her comeback. They can be brutal and some athletes never return to form

It is not just the physical return to form. The mental part can be just a difficult if not moreso. I have no data to back this up, but I wonder if it is more difficult, mentally, to return to a solo sport like figure skating, than it would be to a team sport?

Osmond is special, she is Canadian and they can do no wrong.

I don't think Canadians root for their own skaters any more than people from other countries root for those countries' skaters.

Osmond has qualities but at the moment some Canadian skating fans are going out of their way to pick on Medvedeva's program since there is an outside chance of a gold medal.

I don't think that's true at all. It's pretty easy to get annoyed with Med raising her arm above her head with every jump, and her arguably bad acting. I actually think Med is a sublime skater, but those two things do bother me.

Other female favorites for gold have been beloved throughout the world, including in Canada. Yuna Kim and Michelle Kwan, for example.

I believe that Evgenia enjoys the support of quite a sizable fan base, actually - more than some may care to admit.

Osmond? She is capable of catapulting into enormous fan base territory - especially if she has a successful Olympic season. No doubt!

I hope so but those entries have been up for a long time...I have noticed that (at least at Quebec competitions)that withdraws are never removed from the starting lists..I have had lots of disappointments that way.

I can't wait for Gabby to debut her programs and wish somehow that she could keep CobraBoobs for another year.

Gabby needs to refine her skating, but I love how powerful and athletic she is.
She's a breath of fresh air in skating.
And once she matures a bit more into womanhood, she will be magnetic.

I just loved this program...I usually find her programs although well skated with good components to be flat and boring but this was amazing. I can't wait to see it performed again.

I agree. Daleman seriously has the look of Carmen. I like that she went with a more natural sensuality vibe with this. This is what I imagine my Carmen to look like. I think it all works. The hair, make-up, costuming, etc.

I hate the vocals in this.
And she needs to skate with more control and improve her line and finish off her movement better.
But great first outing.
The layback is to die for and the whole aesthetic package is working.
I do think Carmen should be slightly more confident and predatory then she's portraying this far, but I wait to see how this programme develops.

I like this program for Gabby. It accentuates all her positives--strength, power, dynamic quality. Also, she looks amazing!
