Ashley Wagner Cheer Thread #3: The Subject of Tonight's Lecture...

Wow I was utterly and completely wrong. I guess she’s putting it all on the line at Nationals!

^^^ I posted that 40-second clip in the U.S. Ladies thread, too. It was filmed in the summer in a Toronto area rink (by Jackie Wong, I presume) and the "The Audition" lyrics from Emma Stone's character are:
....
And tumbled into the Seine
...
Here's to the ones who dream
Foolish as they may seem
Here's to the hearts that ache
Here's to the mess we make

The only other clip I know of is this 30 seconds of footwork to "The Audition" from Wong's "Making of" video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=11m50s&v=9u5Q1Xok1y4

She told me
"A bit of madness is key
To give us new colors to see
Who knows where it will lead us?
And that's why they need us"
So bring on the rebels
The ripples from pebbles ...

Helene Elliott's column, published last night: http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-us-skating-wagner-elliott-20171226-story.html
“I think ‘La La Land’ has the potential for me to do something really special. What’s most important for me with my skating is that I believe in what I’m doing, and if I am 100 percent sold on my story, I can make it happen. That’s what ‘La La Land’ has finally given me.”
Wagner, 26, added some instrumentation to make the “La La Land” program “much bigger and more exciting,” befitting her vision of an Olympic routine. “Sometimes you need to step away from something to realize it’s exactly what you need,” she said Tuesday during a conference call with reporters. “In an Olympic season it’s easy to lose sight of what you really want and what you really need because of the chaos of the season.”
More quotes from her media teleconference call yesterday, tweeted by Lynn Rutherford: https://twitter.com/LynnRutherford/status/945791470912573440
On @USFigureSkating teleconference, @AshWagner2010 said her foot is "100 percent" and she is "feeling dramatically better since SKAM mentally, emotionally & most important, physically." 1/3
She has added some instrumentation to her La La Land free skate music, so it "feels bigger to me .... I'm refreshed & refocused, the physical side of training is dramatically easier." 2/3
Attitude heading into #USChamps18 in San Jose is focused & positive: "I'm going to put it all out there on the table .... I know what I have to do & I'm more than capable of doing it." 3/3
ETA that Jackie Wong also tweeted about Ashley's call:

Re-posting @john3lutz's question and the reply here from the Kiss & Cry section (thread was moved to the 2018 U.S. Nationals forum by an Admin. presumably because it was competition-related):
has anyone seen practices of Ashley's La La Land FS? I am curious to jump layout, overall program, etc. Will the two triple/triples be: triple flip/triple toe and triple loop/half loop/triple salchow?

John
Senior ladies first official practice at SAP center is on Monday afternoon.

Link is fixed now for the original video. I must have accidentally deleted the last letter of the url when copying the text.

@Jarrett re-uploaded (ETA: link now posted above). At first hearing, I like Ashley's La La Land edits.

Seems choppy to me, like most other LLL program edits. Liam is the only one I've seen so far who avoids the choppiness. The LLL songs are really nice (step off, haterz, they ARE nice songs and that I will maintain! :P ); I don't know why people think they have to chop them to pieces. That said, at least Ashley's version has a bit of coherence and theme to it, by featuring Emma's vocals so prominently and focusing on her character's journey. And I liked what we could see of the choreography, especially in the "bit of madness" section.

agree, the program does not seem a master piece, but I will take it over Moulin Rouge anyday, enough is enough.

Oh yes, I'm really glad she's doing it. And I think it's going to look good, choppiness notwithstanding, when she skates it full out.

The new HHCC dress is absolutely gorgeous but let’s stop for a minute and think about the fact that she has absolutely never skated that program clean in any dress besides the Castelli dress. Out of 4 dresses she’s used for this program, Castelli dress: 3/3 hit programs. Non-Castelli dresses: 0/5 hit programs. I’m not generally superstitious but these numbers are somewhat compelling .

Anyway, whatever the dress, hope we get to see an amazing HHCC today :cheer2:

That’s why I would not be surprised to see it. Wagner, and even the fans seem to think of it as the lucky dress  ( myself included :shuffle: ) so @Marco it’s
Not that I didn’t like her most recent dress, but I think that it would give Wagner a sort of comfort so I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see her skate in Castelli’s dress Tonight.

Im surprised the judges didn't give her the component marks.......

Having never seen LLL I dont know what to think about whats gonna happen.

I know she loves to fight for the free, and thats her thing... but wow.

I know Angela W is a SP skater and not a free skater so I dont really expect her to hang on to 4. But Im nervous a bit for Ash.
