Adelina Sotnikova uber thread

Happy anniversary to Adelina! You're the inspiration to your younger sister along with tons of younger Russian skaters. I'm always wishing the best for her sister too. :cheer2: I kinda catch the smell of a diplomat from her comment about the three older skaters. :D I'm looking forward to seeing Cha-Cha. It must be very different dance from last week's. :)
 
For me, all there is at this point is to wish Adelina the best in her life, and to enjoy all that the OGM brings her. She was awarded the medal. I'm happy for her she has so many new opportunities. I would like to see her skate again, away from the glare and potential of reliving the controversy. It is always more of a challenge to return after winning the OGM and have to prove yourself every time you step on the ice. What would be the point once you have won "the big one".
 
That was a freaking awesome Cha Cha. I think if Adelina returns to skating in some form we will see further improvements in her artistry, be it shows, tours, or competition.

Perhaps to show that her win wasn't a fluke since she's the least accomplished Ladies champion in history.

Except the OGM isn't a lifetime achievement award. It rewards the skater who skated the best over the course of two days. You have 3 skaters who skated lights out in Sochi and you can argue for the placement of all three in any order on that podium IMO. But to say someone needs to prove something because their resume is less than is simply not what the Olympics is about.

Decided to check into the thread to see how Adelina was doing. Had to sift through the posts of cry babies and passive aggressive idiots before I could find current news.
Time for some people to grow the F up. smh.

Someone that starts using profanity over other people's opinions of figure skating results is in no position to tell others to grow up. Figure skating is not important enough to reduce a mature person to such behavior.

did a quick search of your posts re Adelina - not surprisingly, you're one of the cry babies - ironic you're posting in her 'uber' thread, having previously described her gold medal as a 'sham'.
as usual, Adelina-related threads are great for populating my ignore list.

Just as well. At least I can expect less replies from someone who needs to resort to explicatives to express themself when discussing girls in pretty dresses gliding across ice to music :D

Haters gonna hate. And troll uber threads. :rolleyes: Criticizing a skater is one thing. Deliberately going into fan threads to bash a fan's favorite skater is just another form of bullying. It's reprehensible, downright obnoxious.

Oh come now. I expected something a little different from you, understanding my opinions are complex rather than the simple "you're either for us or against us" model.

I am glad that Adelina is doing well.
 
I hope Adelina makes enough money to live off of for the rest of her life. DWTS is a good start :cheer2:

Wow, she looks good ... and when will some of the boots leave her alone. I have such admiration for her keeping her calm against such haters.

Nice.

It is always hard to get that 3rd rotation when the 3Lp is the 2nd jump under the IJS because it is hard to get off the ice with less than a 1/4 of a rotation on the ice. I have heard that most skaters feel more comfortable landing backwards to their first jump in a two jump combo, so getting that 3rd rotation in the 3Lp feels like an overrotation to the skaters even if it is not an overrotation according to the IJS.
