Well, hmph. RD is on replay. Women's is already on replay on Peacock. BUT NO PAIRS!!!! I need to at least see the top three
:wuzrobbed

So I'll watch Gillter and Gold ice dance documentary instead.

What a fun exciting first day of the Team event. I recorded it all overnight on USA and watched after I got up. Had nearly 8 hours of sleep, which surprised me because I felt nerves and excitement for this event.

Random thoughts:
Thought Chock & Bates hit it out of the park. LOVE her new dress. Very soft buttery knees and seamless skating. Giles & Poirier were robbed. That was easily my second favorite RD of the event. Best I’ve seen them skate it. Should have at least been ahead of the Brits…who I certainly enjoy.

Ellie and Danny did their job but were lucky Sui & Han did not factor in. Watching practices she is rarely hitting her throws and having jump trouble so at least she hit her jump here. Husband preferred the Georgian pair to the Japanese. I think Miura & Kihara couldn’t have skated that better. Conti& Maci willed that program and it was fun to see.

Lari Naki Gutman and Jia Shin were great to watch. Happy for them! Alysa skated great but took a risk with the lutz/loop that didn’t completely pay off. She did her job though as I expected her to be second unless Kaori made mistakes. Kaori hit it out of the park overall, although it burns me every time she gets away with doing two flips in the short. If Alysa is going to be properly called, so should Kaori.

The look on Ilia’s face at the end of day one was “Crud I gotta do both segments” 😅

The German commentator (wish I had Belinda....) was pronouncing Jia Shin as Shin Shin - is the pronounciation of her first name actually Shin? It would be a weird mistake to make otherwise and the rest of the competitors she pronounced correctly.

Where does Stephen need to place in relation to others in order to make it yo the free?

Apologies if this has been posted somewhere in this thread, but where can we access protocols? I'm only seeing Olympic site event results without details.

He needs to be within 2 places of Kevin to have a tie. Anyone know what happens in that case?

ETA: According to the googles "In Olympic figure skating team events, if two or more teams are tied for placement, the tie is broken first by the highest total segment scores from the team’s best performances in each discipline, and if still tied, by further predefined rules focusing on the highest placements achieved in individual segments."

The details are on the ISU website.... There is a chart floating out there on twitter that show the British Judge's ridiculous scoring.

@fan and @ilovesalchows I believe France holds the tiebreaker by virtue of the highest placement (dance - 2nd) vs Canada's highest placement (dance or pairs - 4th)
Right now, Canada holds the tiebreaker by virtue of the sum of their two highest placements - 7+7 = 14 vs France 9+4 = 13; but if Kevin finishes two places higher than Gogolev then he's certainly going to have a high enough finish to bump France's aggregate total higher than Canada, so they have the advantage in the event of an overall points tie.
